Default How Do You Deal With Anger?

Well I hate to admit it, but I once had a rage problem. Especially on the road. if I had carried a gun when driving back then i would have shot you or used a baseball bat. I did some crazy things when confronted on the road.

Like slam on the brakes in my Honda when a 18 wheeler was on my bumper. Or if you were passing in my direction I would head straight for you while stepping on the gas. I had a death wish. Thank God he saved me.

I use to get so mad when a newspaper rack took my money I beat on it and the same with pay telephones.

I remember getting angry while in the Air Force and tearing up my clothes and smashing my expensive stereo. UGH!

If somebody made me mad I would call their mother really bad names or pick up an iron bar or whatever I had. Using or carrying a baseball bat was one of my favorite weapons of choice.

I finally matured and grew out of most of it. I think Marc can tell you I had a temper when I first started posting here back in 2001. I was offended easily.

I finally prayed and ask God to remove it from me and he removed that violent anger I had.

So how do u deal with anger?

Now I hold it inside which is not good. It can cause depression. So I do try to vent and turn it over to my Lord.

I also go to Anger Management classes once a week.

You know some people know how to push your buttons. I also try to find humor in it now. People do look silly when they get real angry. Their face gets real red and they start to shake.

Sometime a kind word can disfuse a situation. Just be the man and say I'm sorry and let us not get out of hand please.

So who else has a bad temper or once did?

I have never been a very angry person. That my be due to the fact that I hang out with my friend Mary Jane a lot. She keeps me very relaxed and grounded.

I have been known, on occasion, to yell a variety of 4 letter words at people who can't drive well. Its all about the eye contact.

Exercising/working out ... anger can be motivation and be put to a constructive use.

Unless the working out involves destroying things, I don't consider it a good way to alleviate anger. If anything I'll get more angry

It all depends on who's angry with me. I adjust the response accordingly...

As far as my anger? I don't have to deal with it...others do...

I like Tark's attitude here. I try to treat everyone the same. If they do not like the way I treat them, I cannot do anything about that.
Long ago, my temper got me into a bit of trouble -- nothing serious, but I was not comfortable with it. I decided to let others deal with their problems and leave me out of them.

I've come to the realization that instead of harboring anger, you need to take a step back and analyze why the anger exists and do what you can do to eliminate the source. Rather than burying the anger and letting it remain in you, uncover it and address it straight on. Who knows, maybe with an honest and open mind, you can eliminate it at its roots. It's all about diplomacy...

Eliminating the source is a good idea Marc.

Talk to my old man or my grandpa (when he was alive).

Then I realize I have NO anger issues.
