I'm curious to see how Mats Sundin does this season for the Canucks

Some more penguin news, Crosby gets into a fight! And they still lose big, what has happened to the Eastern champs?

Count me in... I'm a hockey lover...

here's a FYI on my teams:

#1 hometown team: Florida Panthers

#1 West Con team: San Jose Sharks

#1 Original 6 team: Detroit Red Wings

I do support other teams though, just ask if you want to know which ones...

Can't help but notice the seven-game series between the Caps and Pens, and most importantly, Crosby and Ovechkin. Great rivalry developing there and Game 7 is tonight. Anyone watching?

The PENGUINS are your Stanley Cup Champions 2008-2009!!!!
Great game last night by Fleury & co. Malkin takes home the Conn Smythe, but there would have been no complaints from these quarters had they given the award to M-A Fleury. He was phenomenal last night, stopping very nearly everything, and for the first time in Detroit, looked like a goalie confident in his ability to stop the puck.

It was harrowing for this Pens fan (you might find in the rare hockey post that I've before noted that I learned all I know of hockey from the great Mario Lemieux, and because of that, I'm a Pens fan first, and a hockey fan second)-- I didn't sit down from the scoring of the second Talbot goal through to the end of the game.
And, according to my wife, I was very loud. At least, until the Detroit goal. Then I just paced about, worried that Fleury would give up they game-tying goal, the ghost, and eventually the game.

But he didn't.
Role players is what this team came to be about in the Finals. Max Talbot scoring goals. Guerin pushing pucks toward the net, but rarely getting good shots on--press the goalie! always!-- Fedotenko was a beast in the backcheck, pulling pucks away on a consistent basis in the defensive zone.

Just a great series. A great win. And done really without Crosby being much of a factor. Malkin was great early, good later in the series, but was also strong checking and on defense.

Great stuff, and the future is brighter than it's ever been for the Penguins.

No hockey expert by any means, but glad to see Sid the Kid hoist the trophy at such a young age. It looked to me like the Wings were going to take this with their experience, but I'm glad to see the Pens do it. So you think Crosby is overrated and Malkin is really the man?
