Only when that talent excutes does it trump all. Teams don't always win based on talent alone. If that were the case Carolina would have at least been a tournament team this year.

Duke, Butler, Michigan State, and West Virginia showed just how overrated athleticism can be in basketball.

An interesting tidbit with all of the talk about how crazy the tournament with lot of upsets: All four of the teams still standing were ranked in the top 10 in the USA Today/ESPN's preseason poll while all four were top 11 in the AP's preseason poll.

I disagree. Talent and athleticism are HUGE. It comes down to matchups and who's hot. Kentucky picked the worst time to have their worst shooting performance of the year. Kentucky would have won 8 out of 10 times vs. WV, but I'm not bitter. They outplayed us.

Anyway, Final Four. One Big 10, one ACC, one Horizon, one Big East. Nice spread of conferences, and very unexpected field. I think Duke can win it, and I'm cringing to say I wouldn't mind my childhood best friend Nolan Smith win...

I kind of want Butler to win. Big some credit to the small confrences, and I love their coach beyond all belief.

So I guess that is why the more athletic teams all lost last weekend then.

The problem with teams who rely soley on athleticism is they can't play in the halfcourt when teams slow them down. It has always been Calipari's bugaboo and coaches are starting to figure out that is how you beat Pitino's teams. You need a good blend of guys who can run the floor and play in the halfcourt.

Butler vs. Duke ... what an unlikely championship game. Looks like Duke is winning their fourth title tonight. I'm happy for my boy Nolan Smith, but otherwise hate Duke. Watching these ugly games like MSU/WVU makes me mad because Kentucky was better than both (yeah, yeah). This has been a lackluster Final Four ... good start to the tourney with all those upsets, but the Final Four lacked luster and starpower.

Congrats Duke!!! Great game, I thought Butler was going to win it with a halfcourt buzzer beater, that was sick.
