Default Boggs, Sandberg elected to HOF

Here's the story:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1958895

Congrats to both of these guys! They had great careers and are deserving of election to the Hall of Fame.

Ryne Sandberg was my favorite player growing up (yes, I was a Cubs fan) so it means a lot to see him get in.

Thoughts on the 2005 HOF Class?

Boggs should be in. He was a great all-around player.

I personally think Sandberg is a good player and a deserving Hall of Famer. Good fielder (9 Gold Gloves) and a sold hitter. He gets lost nowadays with so much power. 2nd most homers by a 2B. .285 is good. Ozzie Smith is a career .262 hitters. He got in for his amazing defensive numbers. MVP in 1984.

Rhyno would have been in before if not for his ill-fated "comeback". Wade Boggs was a classy guy who hit the milestone for HOF selection easily. He was one of the best hitters of his generation.
Congratulations and its about time for Rhyno.

Good for Boggs, good for Sandberg; they both deserve it. Now let's get in Jim Rice and Goose Gossage.

A bit off-topic... I'm reading the Jayson Stark article on ESPN... what happened to Jayson Stark? Why was he not given more prominent airtime last season on Baseball Tonight? He wasn't even on the second-team, while John Kruk was on the first team. Hmm......

Stark is the senior baseball writer for ESPN.com. He contributes bits and pieces for TV, but first and foremost, he is a writer, not a television commentator.

But he is on Baseball Tonight occassionally, particular near the trade deadline. Also a few years ago he was a lot more prominent of Baseball Tonight.

Unless he prefers not to be on TV, wouldn't it make sense for ESPN to get him in front of the camera more often?
