Default Izzo to Oregon?

There is a report floating around today that once Michigan State's season ends that Oregon is going to offer him a contract to make him the highest paid coach in America:

Tom Izzo: University of Oregon hasn't contacted me about job - ESPN

Good luck with that Phil. How does the old saying go? Crap in one hand and wish in the other see which one fills up first. The chances of Izzo leaving MSU for any job let alone Oregon are slim and none.

The funny thing is I heard on the Colin Cowherd show that Oregon hired one of those coaching head hunter firms and they came back with Izzo as the best candidate with Roy Williams and Coach K being solid choices as well. Wow did OU get ripped of on that one. I could have gave them that list and would have charged them far less than those jokers did.

Agreed, Izzo is a Michigan guy and isn't leaving. He doesn't strike me as the type who'd leave soley for money, which is the only thing Oregon can offer people now. The program is not in good shape. Another name I've heard is Tubby Smith, that would surprise me, too. He's also been linked to openings like Auburn.

I don't know much, but I would never understand leaving a two time final four team the past two seasons for Oregon. Even if they are giving you more money, not unless your a complete sellout.

Oregon is kidding themselves if they think they are going to land a top coach unless they make a run at Calipari or Pitino who quite honestly seem more interested in the money than actually builiding a legacy anywhere like the guys like K and Izzo are doing.

What makes this even more dumber is they don't have an AD. They are trying to hire a coach without knowing who is Athletic Director is going to be which is always a bad idea. If the new coach does not win in two or three years he will be gone because he is not the AD's guy.

I really don't expect Oregon to end up with anyone top of the line, not until they rebuild that program and win some games in march.
