Unhappy What's wrong with the Devils?

It's like complete opposite in NY/NJ this year with the other local teams winning and the usually dominant Devils struggling. Players have slowly left the team and it has left them in shambles. It looks like another could bite the dust. Here is the latest rumor:

Rumor Mill: Arnott candidate to leave in Devils shakeup

Less than two years after he scored the Stanley Cup-winning goal in overtime, Devils center Jason Arnott seems to be living on borrowed time in New Jersey.

And he might not be the only one.

The underachieving Devils, who came within one game of repeating as Stanley Cup champions last spring, have had a disappointing season and hit the halfway point clinging to the eighth and final playoff spot in the East. They have rarely put together two good games in a row, sparking speculation that general manager Lou Lamoriello is running out of patience and preparing a major shakeup.

Lamoriello helped fuel the rumors last weekend when he was notably absent from the Devils game in Carolina. The New Jersey GM refused to say whether he missed the game in order to do some scouting but noted, "We'll do anything we can if it's going to make us better."

I don't know who the "other one" might be.. Arnott maybe... maybe Holik.. One of them will go but I don't see any other moves being made... unless they give up a 3rd or 4th line guy to get a better back-up goalie (e.g.: someone that plays more than 3 out of 43 games).

There must be some locker room problems either between the coach and players, or between the players themselves, because they have basically the same line-up and should be doing just as well as last year.... however, the Eastern Conference has gotten MUCH more competitive this year compared to last.. nevertheless, they shouldn't be this far down in the standings.
