Default Cubs get Derek Lee

Are the Marlins on a dismantle rampage or the start of one. I really don't think so but great deal for the Cubs.

What do you guys think?
Why would the Marlins even do this.

Lee was going to be traded to Balt. before this trade was offered.

Hee Seop Choi (don't like him) and a ML for Lee

I'm guessing it's for salary reasons? Can someone verify this?

I'm Korean and even I don't like Choi as a full-time, big league first baseman. Lol.

Great trade for Cubs.

They needed to clear paryoll like Pimpbot said to clear payroll. They've offered for the most part competitive deals to Castillo (3 years, $15.5 million, just as good as the Mets offer), Pudge, and Urbina.

He was going to go to arbitration and potentially be the most expensive Marlin. Plus they have guys to fill in with the accquisition of Jeff Conine.

Great deal for the Cubbies. Lee is a great player. Lets hope the Marlins don't start fragging that team.

I do understand the trade for the Marlins, but not the Cubs. I think Choi was going to be a great Firstbase man. I see a lot of Mark Grace and John Olerud in him. I do think, right now, Lee is better then Choi. But, it also makes the cubs super right-handed. They better hope They get a catcher that's left-handed and Corey Patterson comes back huge like last year.

Todd Walker would be nice at second and bring a left handed bat.

Perfect----left batting catcher---- AJ Pierzynski---

Has he gotten resigned yet.

I know the Twins have that Mauer guy who they drafted first in 2001 before Mark Prior.

Good trade for the Cubs. The Marlins need to re-sign Pudge or Castillo fast cause otherwise the fans could jump on them thinking it's another fire sale.

I understand the deal from both sides. The Marlins needed to clear some salary and the Cubs needed production from the position. Lee is only 28, so it isn't like he only has a couple of good years left. Choi is only 22 or 23 and has a great deal of upside. I have had the chance to talk to him at games and he is a really nice guy. He is trying really hard to acclimate to our society and, I think, there is a decent Korean population in South Florida. He could be quite a pickup for the Marlins.

God Damnit Marlins. I just heard about this when I saw it. Well here goes the Marlins again disowining their winning franchise. Well hey look at it this way, they'll suck for another 5 years, and then win again.
