Default Unit tipping pitches

I've got to wonder what planet Tim McCarver is on. He repeatedly conjectures aloud tonight (Yanks/Angels game 5) that the talk of Randy Johnson tipping pitches is "rubbish". Mc Carver's points:

1. Unit isn't tipping because his opponents wouldn't want to give that information away, nor would the Yankees.

(How about it's so obvious that anyone watching on tv can pick it up? Has he watched Baseball Tonight this year?)

2. Unit isn't tipping because Vlad Guerrero got a hit, but the next two guys didn't.

(How about he only tips out of the windup? This was so widely covered it's ridiculous.)

Lesson here is, yep, McCarver's a loudmouth moron. And Joe Buck is a Yes Man schill for agreeing with him.

Remember Billy, nearly every batter in the NL knew what pitch Sandy Koufax was going to throw. It didn't matter however, as few hitters could handle either his fastball or curve. I don't out RJ in Koufax's league, but he isn't bad either.

No he hasn't. He finished in the top five in the league in Wins, K's, Innings, WHIP, BAA, and top 20 in ERA. It is funny how folks are piling on Johnson as being completely washed up just because he is not a front runner for the Cy Young. Is he on the decline? Yes. But, he is still a number one or two starter for almost any team in the majors. He was one of the best in the league after the break.

I wouldn't say Koufax isn't good, nor would I say that about Unit. But I would say Unit tips pitches. And our jovial "expert" McCarver would disagree with that...
