Default Broncos & Lions Trade

Looks like it will be offical once free agency starts.

Michael Smith, of ESPN.com, reports the Denver Broncos also traded an undisclosed draft choice, which is believed to be a fifth-round pick, to the Detroit Lions in exchange for CB Dre' Bly. As reported, the Broncos also parted ways with RB Tatum Bell and OT George Foster.

I think the Lions make out pretty well here.

What do all of you think?

It's a step for the Lions, I guess...

First move should be to fire Millen, but I digress. They still need a long-term QB.

Meh, I don't know Bell has butter fingers which is why he fell out of favor with Shanahan plus he has yet to show he can survive as a feature back. I don't know that it matters that much who is carrying the ball for the Lions until they significantly upgrade that offensive line.

Tatum Bell is basically the same back as Kevin Jones, but Jones has better hands. I guess thats a good trade for them, considering they spent 3 consecutive 1st rounders on WR too, so it seems like they want to pile up as many skill players as they can.

I think the Lions wanted to feature KJones more, but he's been too fragile for the workload he already has. This allows more RB action and healthy backs... in theory.

That theory only works when you have a competent line in front of you. Look at how badly Edge struggled in Arizona last year because their line could not keep me out of the backfield.

Detroit's offensive-line meltdown since what they were in the early 2000s has been truly breathtaking - the last time I can remember a specific unit on a particular team go from the best in the league to the worst in this short a time was the Colts' defensive line, which led the NFL in sacks in 1977 and trailed it (record-breakingly, in fact) in 1981.
