5 of the last 10 World Series champions had losing records against winning teams in the regular season.

The playoffs are a crapshoot. You just have to get there and anything can happen.

Hell, when St. Louis won the world series, the Reds owned the Cardinals in regular season.

Make the playoffs, get hot, and anything can happen.

Holy ish!!!!

Did anyone see Aroldis Chapman last night?

1 inning, 8 pitches (7 for strikes), and 4 of those pitches came in at 100 MPH or better.

His slider is even more impressive, coming in at 88-92 with ridiculous movement.

The thing I noticed most was the ease with which he pitches. This dude doesn't even look like he's throwing at full strength.

Aroldis Chapman 2010 = David Price 2008

Can't wait to see him in the playoffs against Chase Utley and Ryan Howard.

Chapman's fastball is for real. When I saw the radar guns in the minor league park, I thought they must have gotten them from the same place the Wisconsin Hiway Patrol gets theirs, but now I think they were real readings. 100+ with decent movement is outstanding. I do worry a bit about his mechanics, however. He could lose his release point and get really wild.

Chapman part two...

1-2-3 inning, 11 pitches, 2 strike outs, 104 on the gun, and his first MLB win.

Boy, what a weapon for the Reds to have.

The Reds appear to have the NL Central all but wrapped up. In order for them to lose, they'll have to fall completely apart.....and I don't see it happening.

Yeah, even if the Cards sweep the Reds this weekend, they are still 5 behind with less than a month to go...

If the Reds take even one game, they come out of the series seven games up.

You don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger, and you don't mess around with Nyjer Morgan!

Nyjer Morgan is definitely a loose cannon. He plays very hard, but makes some really stupid decisions. I hope he grows up a little or his career will be very short.

Running into a catcher that doesn't have the ball just for fun is pretty stupid. Maybe he goes to Burger King and buys meals off the dollar menu?
I had no problem with him taking offense to being thrown at twice in a game, but running into people just to do it is stupid.

I agree, you don't run into a defenseless and ballless catcher just to make a point. Have your pitchers go out there and make your point for you...

that was sarcasm.

Payback is part of baseball, if you get beaned your pitcher beans the opposition, if you get beaned twice you do whatever it takes to let the other team no, don't mess with me
