I think the Yanks would go after him if he was available and find a spot for him

it's perfect. they save the cash from Renteria, who couldn't handle AL ball last season, and give to get Damon. plus they pick up one of the best minor league prospects out there.

They'll keep Damon anyway, no one else wants him. And dumping one of the best SS out there for a 3rd baseman prospect doesn't seem to make much sense to me???? IMO, they gave up on Renteria too early. Sometimes players have trouble switchong from NL to AL

The Renteria/Marte trade does not make a ton of sense to me. Granted, Renteria did not have much of a season but given what he has done in the past one would have thought the Sox would have given another shot next season. On the flipside it is not like the Braves to trade a blue chip prospect for a high price player.

If I am not mistaken the Sox freed up 30 mil by trading Renteria. If memory serves they gave him a 4 yr. 40 million dollar contract.

According to Gammons Soriano is pretty adamant about playing second base next year. So, it shall be interesting to see what happens with him in DC.
Even if they do put Cora at SS, ok, he's a decent infielder, but his bat isn't that great. I heard Nomar may go to San Diego (or was it LA??).
You are correct on the Renteria contract, 4ys, $40m... that's why I say bring in Tejada!!!
I got some news from the homefront, the Beantown buzz is that Theo had s'thing to do w/ the Renteria trade???? I have no idea what that means, but I'll try to get a link and follow up or whatever.

And regarding Soriano... yup, according to him, he's NOT moving!!

An interesting hire I always thought he got a bit of a raw deal after the ALCS fiasco a couple of years ago. But, they probably had to can him for his own safety.
I'll give my 2 cents and shut up... Yes, he was the scapegoat in Boston after losing game 7 of the ALCS... but to leave in Pedro when his pitch count was that high and not bring in Timlin was an absolute Yankee killer in that series was just aweful. I don't care if Pedro said he could still go, that's why you have a manger and players aren't running the show. Ok, done.

I like closer Todd Jones going to Detroit. Will Ivan Rodriquez find a new home?

Where to? Some of the teams hoping for catching help (Seattle, Baltimore) addressed their problem. Maybe the Mets are willing to swallow the rest of Pudge's contract?

How come we have heard nothing about the Yanks and Johnny Damon? I know that his name hasn't been as big as we thought this year in free agency but I'm surprised that we haven't even heard of an offer from Steinbrenner's desk.

I think Damon and Boras are pushing the boat out a little too far regarding money and length for the Yanks to be interested.

The Yankees would be wise to pick up Johnny Damon.

you dont hear anything about the Yankees and Damon because Cashman is finally running the team his way and that means no longer overpaying for aging stars... just like Johnny Damon.

Nomar is probably best suited to go to an AL team where he can at least DH part time. Supposedly the Yankees are very interested in him coming on board to be a utility IFer play some OF and DH some. The O's have talked to him about moving to first or a corner OF position. Supposedly the Indians, Jays, Pads and Dodgers are in the mix as well.

The reason the Yankees have not made an offer to Damon is because they are not willing to give him more than three years and I think the Sox recently bumped their latest offer up to four.

Nomar would be a good addition to nearly every AL team. He can still hit and play the field a couple of days a week.
Damon is likely the best FA left on the market, in a thin year.

It's official: The Red Sox have offered Manny Ramirez for Miguel Tejada.
