Default I'm getting worried about Tampa...

The Fox guys called Tampa the third best team in the NFC.
I'm looking at the remainder of their schedule, and they look
like they could make a run...

at New Orleans
at Houston
Atlanta
at San Francisco
Carolina

Who, besides me, sees them running the table ?

Dallas will be the # 1 team, Green Bay (barring a collape) # 2.
Tampa will come in at # 3 (at a possible 12-4...and they could
even overcome the Packers, if the Pack drops to 12-4 or worse).

I don't want this charmed season my Packers are having to
come to a crashing end due to Tampa in the playoffs.

I guess I'm p'd that that loser Jason Campbell just had to
go and throw that FREAKIN' interception, and blow that
FREAKIN' game!!

No dispersions to Tampa fans themselves (I have a brother-in-law
who is from Tampa originally), but their win WAS bad for the Packers,
in terms of them locking up the first round bye.

Well if Gruden keeps shooting his mouth of about the defense you won't have to worry about the Bucs. After yesterdays game Gruden "wished" "the defense would have been more effective in the second half". Bucs gave Gruden' offense the ball inside the 30 yard line 4 TIMES and force 2 int's at the end of the forth quarter.

Barber's int in late in the 4th could have sealed the victory if Gruden's offense could have gotten 1 first down. Did they? No. Did the Bucs get a first down in the second half? No. It took a Brian Kelly pick in the end zone with 20 something seconds left to win the game.

How is it the Bucs defense gets better though out the year but Gruden can't prepare a 2nd string QB for action should Garcia go down? The Bucs have no offense without their defense and it's sickening.

EDIT: 16 freaking yards of offense in the entire second half.

Right idea - to be a bit afraid of a team that's currently 7-4 in the NFC.

Wrong 7-4 NFC team, though: To me at least, if anyone has a shot at Dallas and Green Bay, it's Seattle - the Seahawks have a considerably tougher schedule than the Buccaneers (and beat Tampa Bay head-to-head on opening day and thus carry the tie-breaker for seeding should it come to that), plus they're doing it without Shaun Alexander, and with Matt Hasselbeck substantially compromised by injury (presumably both should be 100% or relatively close to it by the time the playoffs start, unless either re-aggravate their respective injuries).

I am not sure how much of a threat Tampa will be if Garcia is not healthy down the stretch though. Back injuries for QBs can be pretty tricky and we all know Gradkowski is not going to be the guy to lead this team deep into the playoffs.

Gradkowski couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat. MCown is a much better back up but, Bruce is Gruden's boy.

Kind of six of one half dozen of the other isn't it? I mean Luke McCown does not exactly strike fear in the heart of anyone either.

Tampa is simply following the pattern of the NFC South: the last-place team always wins the division the next year. (Hat tip to Anthony.) I don't know why you're concerned, Phil. The Packers have the Raiders, Rams, Bears, and Lions after Dallas. 12-4 would be a collapse. 13-3 seems like a very realistic possibility, with 14-2 not crazy.

Actually another thing is also at issue here, Marc - and that is that the Buccaneers are taking the biggest drop in the league in strength of schedule compared with what they played last year, based upon the 2006 final records (this of course being the subject of a thread I post every year, at the conclusion of the regular season).

Meanwhile, at the other end of the scale, there was a three-way tie among the Ravens, Jets and Chargers for having the biggest increase in schedule difficulty - and that trio, a combined 37-11 in 2006, are 12-21 among them so far this season!

Moreover, the last-to-first trend in the NFC South has every promise of continuing in 2008: A positive change at quarterback, either through the draft (Brian Brohm, Matt Ryan etc.) or through a trade (Donovan McNabb?) could easily propel either the Falcons or the Panthers to the top of the division next year.

And remember also that no team that has won the NFC South since it was created has finished with a winning record the following year, or has finished either first or second in the division the season after.

John Gruden needs to buy a couple of bottles of champagne to
give in appreciation for a couple of early Christmas gifts...

1) For Jason Campbell, who blew the game with his
stupid interception in the endzone.

2) For Sean Payton, who called that moronic double
reverse with a pitch, handing the ball and the game
over to Tampa.

Tampa should be 6-6.

Also, thanks to Feely for being just as MUCH of an incompetent
******* for HIS stupid interception in the endzone against
Seattle. Seattle should be 7-5.

NFL sucks this year.

I think Feely single-handedly put that imagined QB controversy to rest in Philly with that performance yesterday.

WRONG - The Bucs should've won those games vs Detroit (who clearly are barely better than Miami after yesterday's pasting at the hands of the Vikes - if Kitna could only play as well as he runs his mouth) and vs Jax. Stupid mistakes cost the Bucs both those games.

McCown, with the exception of two bonehead plays, played very well yesterday and solidified his spot as #2 behind Garcia. I could see them losing at Houston & possibly at San Fran (they never seem to play well on the left coast) but should beat ATL & Carolina at home to go undefeated in the division...then lose in the first round of the playoffs....

Tampa is a very good team. Way to go for Gruden I always liked him. I think they will be a tough out in the playoffs.

Bucs need to start putting teams away if they think they'll do well in the playoffs.
