Default Falcons get Gonzalez

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=090...s&confirm=true

I'm not sure how good a move this is for the Chiefs, but it seems great for the Falcons. Matt Ryan gets the ultimate safety net for his sophomore season, Gonzalez gets to play out his last years with at least a shot of maybe getting to a SB.

Gonzalez for a 2nd-rounder. Looks good for all involved. Atlanta gets an All-Pro TE to pair with Ryan. And like Montrovant said, this gets Gonzalez out of KC and onto a playoff team. This also allows KC to get young talent to rebuild.

I agree with Nate. There is a good possibility that by the time the Chiefs get back to being relevant in the AFC Super Bowl picture Gonzalez will either be long gone or no longer an impact player in the league. Good to deal him now while you can still get some value for him.

This likely means the Falcons will not be taking a TE with their first pick.

Great move by the Falcons because they can compete now with Matt Ryan now having another big target in Gonzalez. The Chiefs are rebuilding and maybe they did this as a good gesture to Gonzalez to let him finish off his career with a winning team.

A "winning team" that has never had two winning seasons in a row in its entire existence?

And if the schedule has anything to say about it, won't have one in 2009 either.

The Falcons better win big, and win fast. Gonzalez has maybe two years left in the tank, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him retire after this season.

And if they bomb this year, and their schedule indicates that it's possible, losing that second-round draft pick next year will hurt that much more.

Well I have 7-9 or so in mind for the 2009 Falcons (and also, for the '09 Eagles).

Whether that constitutes "bombing" or not is up to you I suppose.
