Default Just somethin' to boast about...

Ohio State had the highest attendance for their spring game than any other school in the nation. I was one of 'em! Good weather that day. Florida was #3...please...and you call yourselves football fans sue?

please. Kansas State has had back-to-back losing season and still brought in 35,000 people to its spring game.

....but that's actually because kansasinians have nothing better to do.

Kansasinians

First time I ever heard that word, nevermind seeing it in print.

That is a good deal of folks though Noon. How many people live in the Manhattan area? I'm sure Columbus is a billion times bigger.

Columbus may not be a billion times bigger, but Manhattan only has a population of 44,000.

I had a chance to watch Bob Huggins speak at a K-State Alumni event last night, and he talked about holding a midnight basketball event to kick off the season.

He said if the Spring Football Game can draw 35,000, surely the midnight basketball event can draw 13,500.

Not too long afterwards, they auctioned off an honorary coaching position for two people to enjoy the pre-game meal with the team, get a tour of the facilities, meet and converse with Coach Huggins and get great seats for the ballgame against Colorado.

They had to beg somebody to bid $200 for the prize.

The students might come out, but I would be surprised if 13,500 attended the midnight basketball scrimmage.

I would pick the latter, Marc

Just kiddin' Buckeye. Ohio State fans have a lot more to cheer about this coming season than Gator fans, I'm afraid. That spread offense (which will be run by Leak ) is, IMO, not fun to watch. I miss the Spurrier-run, fun 'n gun offense.....those were the good old days....:whine:

Actually Sue, this will probably be our worst season since 2001. That's Jimmy's first year. People who believe you win with offense are damn fools. Or Florida fans.

Just remember that every win you get this year is courtesy of a man from northeast Ohio (Meyer). No need to thank us for helping you guys out. Everyone needs an Ohio connection if they wanna win.

Really? Is Meyer gonna suit up and play quarterback?

Actually, every win the Gators get this year will be courtesy of a bunch of talented athletes from the Southeast, and Florida in particular.........

I'm not really embarrassed...its just two people with no affiliation to the university at all....if the south had libraries I'm sure we would hear about the same type of things from them...

Libraries? If it wasn't for us Yankees they wouldn't even have schools. Reconstruction set up the land grant system that forced them to set 'em up. That and roads....and many other things come to think of it. No need for thanks Sue...your charming prescence on here is thanks enough.

How many days til the season starts?

This has been making it's rounds around the web for a little bit now, making a Carl Monday, whose been the Cleveland news sensationalist investigative "journalist" for as long as I can remember, something of a national cult hero of sorts. I just went over to deadspin.com and it's showing a "Carl Monday is watching you masturbate" graphic.

It's hard not to laugh at this type of alarmist journalism, which is done by pretty much every station that has a local news station. As Saturday Night Live put it on a skit a few years ago: "Nine area schoolchildren are molested to death while their teachers buy drugs from your dentist! HAAAAARGH! Toxic mold!"

Every web-active OSU fan is catching teasing from this, but to be honest I find it as funny as anyone else. I love his "deer in the headlights" reaction to it all. You can tell he KNOWS he's f****d as soon as Monday asks him the first question. So at first he protests too much, ("What about porn?" "What?! No!!! Why would you ask that?!") and then sort of goes for a very poor attempt the throw-yourself-at-the-mercy-of-the-court tactic (It wasn't me! Okay, it was me. But I didn't know it was wrong at the time. But now I do.)

I don't mean to make light of a serious situation, and he's extremely lucky he's only being charged with Indecent Exposure (so I read today). But Ricky's right: Sorry to say, the masturbatin' perverts are pretty much everywhere, ours just got caught.

I'm guessing most Southerners fondle themselves while watching the Dukes of Hazzard. Either that or NASCAR.
