Default Governor Charles Barkley?

It could happen, but not until 2014 since Alabama has a rule that you must be a resident of the state for at least seven years before. If Ventura and Arnold could do it, so could Chuck. He is very outspoken (duh) and I think really cares about the poor and minorities and sees what's really important and needing to be fixed.

He said on PTI it's a 65% chance he'll be governor. Would you vote for him?

I can't imagine he wouldn't be the favorite against whoever he was running against. Whether he'd make a good governor is the question...

Would I vote for him? It depends on his stance regarding issues I as a voter would find important, but since he has announced he would run on the Democrat ticket, I probably would be inclined to vote for him if I lived in Alabama.

I assume he means 65% chance he will run. Seeing as he won't be running for several years it is pretty tough to say one way or the other what you think your chances are of winning an election.

I always wanted to see Charles Bronson run for political office... now it is too late... we missed a great chance at world diplomacy by not electing Charlie to the White House... a real shame....

Eh, what I heard him say today about the rising gun violence in Philadelphia was some of the best discussion points on the issue and it's been the most talked about thing in this city this summer.

If Ahh-nold can win, and Jesse the Body can (as a third-party candidate, no less), I see absolutely no reason to think Barkley can't win. America has demonstrated their desire to vote for someone famous! Hooray!

How sad is it that, rather than your political views and stances, your pop culture status is more likely to get you elected to political office? Makes me sick.

Since few of our elected officials seem like deep political or philosophical thinkers anyway, the transition from wealthy business moguls and lawyers to entertainers should be pretty smooth. Instead of the current batch of political "leaders" constantly worrying about spin and PR to make themselves famous, these people already are. I don't see how the debate over any important issues in this country could become more watered-down and childish as a result of this...

So instead of trying to fix the problem by placing people w/good political ideas, let's make Paris Hilton president.

Why settle for this crap? We want to get better, not wallow in absurdity.
