Thumbs down

I suggest you don't go and watch this one. Tom Hanks has been in a ton of amazing movies, but this one was just not one of them.

It was two and a half hours of predictable, boring CRAP. Way too much time spent on him talking to his pet volleyball. Yes, a pet volleyball.

The ending was TERRIBLE, and one of my buddies actually fell asleep during it.

It is almost "walk-out" quality, to tell you the truth.

Only plus of the movie, is Helen Hunt in TIIIIIIIIIGHT blue pants and a white blouse runnin' out in the rain, ;p

Are you serious? I thought this was a good movie and wanted to see it, badly. Who else has seen it?

I saw it and liked it very much. THe plot teaches some important leasons and shows how his characters evolves. He is forced to move on after everything he had is gone. And I thought talking to the volley ball was hilarious.

It was terrible. WAY too much time was spent on the raft in the ocean. and the entire movie was 1-2-3 basic predictable drama. nothing exciting at all.

who DIDNT know that Helen Hunt was going to be married and have a kid when he came back? kind of obvious...

and the sudden "four years later" thing doesn't work for me. They didn't show any evolution of character, he was the same guy, with a beard, and a volleyball for a friend.

I think it's Tom's worst movie that I've seen out of:

Forust Gump
Philidelphia
Apollo 13
Saving Private Ryan
and others I can't think of right now

Jake, I think you and I saw different movies with the same name.

It wasn't a "pet" volleyball -- it was his friend. A "pet" is a dog or cat or fish. Tom Hanks' character was based totally on communications... his job was to interact with people. When he got stuck on the island, he lost all of that, and the only THING he could find a companion in was a volleyball. There wasn't a single animal on the island. He was all alone -- the volleyball helped him develop a relationship with SOMETHING, and, yes, it was quite humorous, IMO.

Some of the acting was OK by Hanks. I don't think he'll win an Oscar, and will be lucky to get a nomination, but that's the only award I could possibly that movie being won, and the chances of that are quite remote, I think.

BTW, when are the Oscar nominations?

...to answer my own question, it's February 13 at a CRAZY time of 5:38 a.m., Pacific Time.

That's about 8:38 am in the East, right?... or 9:38?... WHY at :38 after the hour!?... that's weird.........
