Exclamation

Courts Ruled against Napster today, March 02, 2001 in a ruling that will be affecting 1,000,000 songs in the napster server databases. Making them illegal.

Looks like the monthly fee is on its way.

Oh well. I already stop using Napster. I knew this would happen. Too bad, it was a cool service.

A sad day in the music online world

Here's some news links:

Napster to voluntarily halt song trades

Fans undaunted by Napster constraints

I knew this would happen. Now it did.

You knew Napster was going to shut itself down?... well, "hault the transfer of some songs?" How could you predict that?... or was it in the news and I was just under a rock?... I was probably just under a rock... sorry.

No, I knew that Napster wouldn't continue on normally... something would happen, now it did.

I knew it would happen to. It just doesn't seem like something that would work... the free distribution of copyrighted material? I mean, its like pirated software.

Even though Napster isn't the one putting the songs on there for the most part, they are allowing people to use a system to do so. This won't stop music distribution of course, but it will certainly make it a little bit tougher for people to get the song they want for free.

Thank goodness for Gnutella, IMesh, BearShare and other possible Napster replacements. Music is a big part of my life- I have over 200 CDs and 1400 mp3's.

Nice how open-source programs are hard for the music makers to stop. I guess they could always sue everyone who uses them....

Not if they don't know WHO is using them... that's the beauty of them.

I was kidding when I said that. I know that they could never sue everyone who used one of them.
