Default What's up with the Big-Name pitchers??

I know it's still early in the Baseball season, But isn't it odd to see some of the big-name pitcher's getting rocked??!! Like Maddux, Johnson, and Pedro? Maddux has given up something like 30 runs in three starts. These guys are usually fast starters. I'm sure they'll come around and do well. It's just kind of odd. :uhoh:

To me, it's unexplainable. Well, I know they're struggling because of control and the like. But why they don't have it is beyond me.

Hey Brandon. I noticed your from Bozeman. I went through there about a month ago. I'm here in Lewiston, Idaho. Not too far from Montana. Small world.

Well Maddux won today pitching 6 innings and giving up just two hits and one run.

Like I said in my post. They will come around and pitch better.

I'd guess the cool weather may have something to do with it. But we could be looking at the lead edge of a changing of the guard, too. Some of them are already there at a pretty young age (Zito, Mulder, Hudson, obviously), but the future is looking like Oswalt, Wood, Prior, Myers, Wolf, Sabathia . . . and probably two or three rookies this year nobody's heard of yet.

It's not just pitchers who are having trouble at the start of the season. Sosa and Bonds only have 5 HR's combined (I know pitching has to do with it, but it's still unbelievable when you think about it), Piazza can't buy a RBI, Walker can't knock one out of the ball park, and Lance Berkman can't hit a beach ball right now. Eventually the best players will turn into the best players once again, but these are the longest cold streaks I've ever seen.

Baseball sesaon so far = in the Alternate Sports Dimension.

The only thing keeping this season somewhat normal is the quality of Tigers baseball.

The great players will be just fine and those who are marginal will remain marginal. I cannot explain Maddux' start, nor can I explain the starts of Johnson and Schilling. I feel that at the end of the season, these guys will have 15+ wins with ERAs of 3.5 or less.
Should be an interesting season for the fans in Atlanta and Phoenix.

Even Mark Mulder gave up a late inning two-run Homer to light-hitting Jeff Cirillo last night to lose to the Mariners. By the way, I don't see the Mariners doing much this year. Do you guys? They lost their manager and it looks like AL pitchers have finally figured out Ichiro. He's hitting under .300

The Mariners have some issues, and they discovered them about August of last year. Plus they're in a really tough division with the Angels, who continue to look good, and the A's, who will play better in coming weeks. Could be a long rainy season in Seattle.

Mariners need another bat in the lineup unless Cameron and the real Jeff Cirillo decide to show up.

no credit to the Yanks? our starting pitching meaning all 5 as yet to LOSE a game this year they are a combined 15-0 that means not even a month threw the season they have an average of 3 wins each. and its been friggin' cold up here in the east recently and its only now starting to get warmer. Jeff Weaver pitched a great game last night he could be a darkhorse for the AL Cy Young
