Talking Professional Football Rankings Week 4-Week 5 Schedule

Rankings reflect all games played from Sept. 9th through Oct. 8th

*Number 1--ST. LOUIS RAMS--(4-0)-Rams blanked Detroit 35-0 on MNF. QB Kurt Warner completed 27-39 for 291 yards and three TD's. CB Dre'Bly returned INT 93 yards for a TD in the second quarter. Next game Oct. 14th against New York Giants at home.

*Number 2--OAKLAND RAIDERS--(3-1)-Raiders shot down Cowboys 28-21 at home. WR Jerry Rice caught seven passes for 51 yards and one TD. WR Tim Brown caught seven passes for 117 yards. RB Tyrone Wheatley rushed for 33 yards on 12 carries, but scored two TD's. LB Greg Biekert had six solo tackles and three assists. Next game Oct. 14th against Indianapolis at Indianapolis.

*Number 3--BALTIMORE RAVENS--(3-1)-Ravens beat down Tennessee Titans 26-7. WR Quadry Ismail scored on 77 yards pass reception from QB Elvis Grbac in the second quarter. Ravens offense had 23 first downs to Tennessee's nine. RB Terry Allen rushed for 108 yards on 22 carries and scored one TD. Next game Oct. 14th against Green Bay at Green Bay.

*Number 4--NEW YORK GIANTS--(3-1)-Giants scalped the Washington Redskins 23-9 at home. FGK Morten Anderson kicked three field goals in that win for New York. CB Jason Sehorn returned INT for a 34 yard TD in the fourth quarter. Next game Oct. 14th against St. Louis at St. Louis.

*Number 5--NEW ORLEANS SAINTS--(2-1)-Saints tamed Minnesota Vikings 28-15 at home in the Superdome. RB Ricky Williams rushed for 136 yards on 30 carries and he scored one TD. WR Willie Jackson caught six passes for 95 yards. Saints defense came up big with six sacks. DT La'Roi Glover had two sacks and DE Darren Howard had two. Saints FGK John Carney tied a franchise record by kicking five FG's and the longest was for 50 yards. Next game Oct. 14th against Carolina at Carolina.

*Number 6--GREEN BAY PACKERS--(3-1)-Packers lost close one to Tampa Bay Buccaneers 14-10 in Tampa. QB Brett Favre completed 20-35 for 258 yards and one TD. He had three intercepted. WR Bill Schroeder caught four passes for 119 yards and one TD. Packers CB Tyrone Williams had 10 solo tackles. Next game Oct. 14th against Baltimore at home.

*Number 7--SAN FRANCISCO 49ers--(3-1)-49ers defeated Carolina 24-14 at home. WR Terrell Owens caught eight passes for 118 yards and two TD's. 49ers LB Jamie Winborn had eight solo tackles and four assists. Next game Oct. 14th against Atlanta at Atlanta.

*Number 8--DENVER BRONCOS--(3-1)-Broncos tossed Kansas City for a 20-6 loss in Denver. CB Deltha O'Neal intercepted four passes for 69 yards. Amazing! WR Rod Smith caught eight passes for 110 yards and one TD. Next game Oct. 14th against Seattle at Seattle.

*Number 9--CLEVELAND BROWNS--(3-1)-Browns stopped charge from San Diego Chargers in 20-16 win. Browns are certainly the surprise team of the year. Of course, they do have head coach Butch Davis at the helm. QB Tim Couch tossed 19 yard TD to Kevin Johnson in the fourth quarter for the win. Next game Oct. 14th against Cincinnati at Cincinnati.

*Number 10--SAN DIEGO CHARGERS--(3-1)-Chargers lost tough one to Cleveland 20-16. QB Doug Flutie couldn't make a "Hail Mary" pass work this time. Rookie RB LaDainian Tomlinson rushed for 102 yards on 19 carries and one TD. He's a workhorse. Next game Oct. 14th against New England at New England.

*Number 11--MIAMI DOLPHINS--(3-1)-Dolphins jumped all over New England Patriots by winning 30-10 at home. RB Lamar Smith rushed for 144 yards on 29 carries and one TD. FGK Olindo Mare kicked three FG's, his longest was 34 yards. Next game Oct. 14th against the New York Jets at New York.

*Number 12--INDIANAPOLIS COLTS--(2-1)-Colts enjoyed a bye this past week. They will be ready to rumble after lost to New England. Next game Oct. 14th against Oakland at home.

*Number 13--TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS-(2-1)-Buccaneers beat Green Bay at home 14-10. FB Mike Alstott ran through Packers defense for 77 yards on 15 carries and one TD. He's a baby bull. QB Brad Johnson completed 23-29 for 184 yards. Next game Oct. 14th against Tennessee at Tennessee.

*Number 14--CHICAGO BEARS--(2-1)-Bears clawed the Atlanta Falcons to death by beating them 31-3 in Atlanta. QB Jim Miller completed 17-26 for 196 yards and one TD. He also had two intercepted. WR Marcus Robinson caught nine passes for 114 yards and one TD. LB Brian Urlacher returned a fumble for a 90 yard TD. DE Phillip Daniels had two sacks on Falcons QB. Next game Oct. 14th against Arizona at Chicago.

*Number 15--PITTSBURGH STEELERS--(2-1)-Steelers put up iron curtain in 16-7 win over Cincinnati at their new field called Heinz Field. Big FB Jerome Bettis rushed for 153 yards on 23 carries. His longest run was 48 yards. That put him over 10,000 yards rushing in his career. CB Chad Scott had eight solo tackles and three assists. Bengals held to four rushing first downs. Next game Oct. 14th against Kansas City at Kansas City.

*Number 16--PHILADELPHIA EAGLES--(2-2)-Eagles lost to Arizona 21-20 at home. A bitter loss. RB Correll Buckhalter rushed for 134 yards on 21 carries. He's been a bright spot for the offense. QB Donavan McNabb completed 19-29 for 280 yards and two TD's. He also threw one INT. Eagles had 440 total net yards in offense. Philadelphia has a bye Oct. 14th. Next game Oct. 22nd on MNF against New York Giants in New York.

*Number 17--CINCINNATI BENGALS--(2-2)-Bengals lost Sunday to Pittsburgh 16-7. Bengals only produced 214 total net yards on offense, compared to Pittsburgh's 412. LB Takeo Spikes has one sack and four solo tackles. Next game Oct. 14th against Cleveland at home.

*Number 18--NEW YORK JETS--(2-2)-Jets flew by Buffalo in 42-36 win in Buffalo. RB Curtis Martin rushed for 135 yards on 26 carries and two TD's. Why New England let him get away I do not know. Jets LB James Farrior had 12 solo tackles and four assists. A very busy man. Next game Oct. 14th against Miami at home.

*Number 19--SEATTLE SEAHAWKS--(2-2)-Seahawks beat Jacksonville at home 24-15. RB Shaun Alexander rushed for 176 yards on 31 carries and two TD's. Seattle QB Trent Dilfer completed 15-23 for 219 yards and one TD. He had one intercepted. Next game Oct. 14th against Denver at home.

*Number 20--JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS--(2-2)-Jaguars lost bite in 24-15 loss to Seattle. QB Mark Brunell completed 21-39 for 233 yards and one TD. Jaquars fumbled three times and lost two to Seattle. Has open date Oct. 14th. Next game Oct. 18th on Thursday night against Buffalo at home.

*Number 21--ATLANTA FALCONS--(2-2)-Falcons got wings clipped in 31-3 loss to Chicago. QB Chris Chandler was knocked out of game with a concussion. Rookie QB Michael Vick was sacked six times. Next game Oct. 14th against San Francisco at home.

*Number 22--CAROLINA PANTHERS--(1-3)-Panthers lost bite in 24-14 loss to San Francisco. Rookie QB Chris Weinke looked very impressive by completing 29-47 for 275 yards and one TD. But he did throw three INT'S. TE Wesley Walls caught 10 passes for 91 yards and one TD. Next game Oct. 14th against New Orleans at home.

*Number 23--ARIZONA CARDINALS--(1-2)-Cardinals shocked Eagles in Philadelphia with 21-20 win. QB Jake "the snake" Plummer completed 18-32 for 238 yards and two TD's. He had one INT. WR MarTay Jenkins caught six passes for 119 yards and one TD. Next game Oct. 14th against Chicago at Chicago.

*Number 24--MINNESOTA VIKINGS--(1-3)-Vikings lost to New Orleans 28-15. QB Duante Culpepper completed 23-34 for 332 yards and two TD's. He threw one INT. WR Chris Carter caught four passes for 84 yards and WR Randy Moss scored one TD. Vikings had two fumbles recovered by New Orleans. Next game Oct. 14th against Detroit at Minnesota.

*Number 25--NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS--(1-3)-Patriots lost to Miami 30-10. They are still without injured QB Drew Bledsoe. Backup QB Tom Brady was 12-24 for only 86 yards. Pat's WR Terry Glenn eligible to return this coming Sunday. Next game Oct. 14th against San Diego at home.

*Number 26--KANSAS CITY CHIEFS--(1-3)-Chiefs lost to Denver 20-6. QB Trent Green completed 25-40 for 283 yards. But he had four INT's. TE Tony Gonzalez caught eight passes for 129 yards. Next game Oct. 14th against Pittsburgh at home.

*Number 27--TENNESSEE TITANS--(0-3)-Best 0-3 team in the league. This team is playing flat. Titans lost to Baltimore 26-7. Titans could only muster 185 total net yards on offense. They had nine penalties for 107 yards. RB Eddie George rushed for 26 yards on 13 carries. Next game Oct. 14th against Tampa Bay at home.

*Number 28--BUFFALO BILLS--(0-4)-Buffalo got smashed by New York Jets 42-36. Bill's QB Brad Van Pelt completed 23-41 for 268 yards and three TD's. He threw one INT. Rookie RB Travis Henry rushed for 113 yards on 19 carries. RB Larry Centers caught 12 passes for 75 yards and one TD. Buffalo has a bye this coming week. Next game Oct. 18th against Jacksonville at Jacksonville.

*Number 29--DALLAS COWBOYS--(0-4)-Cowboys lost to Oakland 28-21. WR Joey Galloway caught 40 yard pass for TD in second quarter from QB Anthony Wright. Dallas LB Dexter Coakley had nine solo tackles and two assists on defense. Dallas off to worst start since 1989, when they went 0-8. Next game Oct. 15th against Washington at Dallas on MNF.

*Number 30--Washington Redskins--(0-4)-Redskins have only scored 25 points in four games. They have allowed 135. They lost to Giants 23-9. QB Tony Banks completed 13-31 for 151 yards. He tossed two INT's. DE Bruce Smith dislocated his right shoulder in that loss. Next game Oct. 15th on MNF against Dallas at Dallas.

*Number 31--DETROIT LIONS--(0-3)-Lions are playing with no intensity. They lost 35-0 on MNF against St. Louis at home. QB Ty Detmer or Charlie Batch cannot get offense going. Lions QB's sacked six times by Rams defense. Lions had seven penalties for 60 yards. Next game against Minnesota at Minnesota.
