There is a trade rumor that the A's will not be able to sign all 3 of the top gun starters (Hudson, Zito and Mulder). Apparently Hudson is the one due up with a contract extension and most likely will recieve more money. Word is that the Yankees possibly could trade Jason Giambi back to Oakland (Billy Beane covets Giambi) for Hudson. The Yankees of course would pick up some of the remainder of Giambi's contract ($99 something million left). Now this is just a rumor, but I would defintely do this deal. The Yankees have enough offense to compensate Giambi's loss and they are in dire need of another starter. The A's need more offense with the loss of Tejada. I think the Yankees would be fine with Tony Clark and Travis Lee platoon on 1st base. Both Clark and Lee are better defensively than Giambi anyway.

Dude we lost game 1 of the series to the Giants 3-2. Another great pitching performance brought to a loss by our offense.

Another loss for Ortiz. Were 3 games back. We better get on the ball to not get too far behind first place.

Sox pitching staff gives up first run in 32 innings in the top of the first inning of game #2 a day-night double-header. Of course, they respond by putting seven runs on the boards of their on in the bottom of the first, and the bullpen hasn't allowed a run in 30 innings of relief.

Go O's. Get back to the top of the AL east.

Ellis, the AL east is as good as closed now. Thanks for playing.

You could watch the AL West and hope that the three competitive teams out there beat themselves silly, leaving the wild card available to whichever finishes #2 in the AL East--Os or Yanks.

Two words: One-hundred-sixty-two Games.

Although I am also rooting for the Red Sox and despise the Yankees as much as anyone around, I won't take anything for granted in a division with the Yankees. And, the Orioles don't look too bad this season.

Okay, it was more than 2 words.

I've got something no one can topple. The Kane County Cougars (my local team or Single-A affiliate of the Oakland A's) won 20-0 and the pitcher had a no-hitter with 1 out in the ninth inning

Franky, I have five words for you:

Martinez
Schilling
Lowe
Wakefield
Foulke

That is all.

I don't disagree that the O's look decent, but for them to survive through the one-hundred-sixty-two games, they're going to have to have the 'Dontrelle Willis Effect' stick for three different pitchers. That strikes me as ... we'll call it unlikely.

I'm perfectly aware that the season is silly-young, and that the Sox will probably drop the series opening tonight against the Rangers--just 'cuz. Lots of season, I know. But, holy smokes. The way this Sox team is pitching, and the way that Yankees team is not pitching...

Excuse some bombastic exuberance...

Dave

Braves make 7 error and Derosa commits 4 of them. You got to be kidding me. Stick a band of 12 year olds out there and they could do better than Giles, Garcia and Derosa (the 3 combined to commit all 7) Horacio didn't give up and earned run and still gave up the loss.

The Rangers sweeping the Red Sox gave Toronto and everybody else a break in the A.L East, as bad as the Jays have played so far they're only 7.5 back of the division which is a break in itself.

Toronto needs to take care of Kansas City and get back against the White Sox this weekend and they'll be be right up there.

And oh yes...the Yankees are on fire again.

Big win by the Braves 4-2 over the Padres last night. Damon Hollins got 3 rbi's and Ortiz pitched a good performance for the win and Smoltzie got the save.

Braves lose in a pathetic performance by the offense 2-0. Braves offense just sucks without Furcal, Drew and Chipper who didn't play last night.

Braves lose 7-3. They sucked it up yet again. Then they turn a triple play and act like it relieves them of still losing. Jesus now were under .500 again.
