Default Should the Hornets move to New Orleans?

I am from New Orleans, so I may be a little biased here. But I think that the Hornets would be great for the team, and state of Louisiana. There are loyal fans there, I mean, just look at the Saints fans. And there is a nice shiny new stadium sitting right next to the Superdome!

I heard that that was a done deal. I also think it would be great but North Carolina is one of the best hoops states in the country.
The NBA could start a new franchise and one of the better places would be N.O.

New Orleans was my fourth choice for my Hornets to go to...

Did you say Saints fans? They didn't support their team until they finally had a good year - what I call fair weather fans. And remember the New Orleans Jazz? No one supported them, so they moved to Utah. I'm not saying it'll happen again, but there are still better places.

Personally, I would have liked them to stay in Charlotte and the two idiot owners to sell the team to local businessmen. If that didn't work out, I would have liked to see them go to Louisville because in Kentucky, basketball is a way of life. And at last resort, how about St. Louis? They are a mid-to-large city with a lot of fans, without an NBA team.

It's truly disgusting North Carolina, which all the tradition with the Tar Heels, don't have an NBA team.

In my opinion, for the most part- Saints fans stayed Saints fans. Everyone I know in new orleans has been a die-hard Saints fan for the past 10 years, even through the rough times. Sure some fans stopped supporting them, but the majority of them stuck it out, even if they did go to the games with bags on their heads.

It's a shame one of the biggest basketball states won't have a NBA team. I think the NBA should make the Hornets change their name once they move then get an expansion team in Charlotte - the Hornets (like the what Cleveland did with the Browns).

No! We must keep the Hornets name. I like it! Speaking of the Hornets, some positive news on New Orleans ticket sales:
Quote:
Hornets 'excited' about New Orleans market

http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2002/0125/1317737.html

NEW ORLEANS -- As the Charlotte Hornets prepared to set up administrative offices in the Hibernia Bank building on Carondelet Street on Thursday, team officials said they could not yet estimate the success of a local drive to sell season tickets.

That drive is central to attempts at relocating the franchise to New Orleans, team officials have said, because it could convince league owners -- who must approve such a move -- that the city can support a franchise. Also, a clause in the agreement between city officials and the team allows either to back out before March 15 if New Orleanians do not purchase 8,000 season tickets, 2,450 club seats and 54 luxury suites.

Officials with the Hornets said that they were enthusiastic about the pace of sales to date, but that logistical difficulties and upcoming Mardi Gras and Super Bowl celebrations meant a firm number wouldn't become available until around Feb. 1.

In the 24 hours after the team announced its intention to relocate to New Orleans last week, a hot line received about 7,000 calls from area residents seeking tickets.

See, maybe it wasn't such a bad idea.
