Marc will become famous soon enough
Thumbs down Say it ain't so!

Do you guys enjoy Madden and Summerall as much as I do? Two class-act guys who know the game and have great chemistry. I am so used to hearing them work together and do the big games. It makes it all the more enjoyable. I wonder why they'd spit up... it would be even more weird of Summerall came back with another broadcasting parter. :freak:

Fox splitting Summerall, Madden after Super Bowl

http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2002/0122/1315510.html

NEW YORK - Pat Summerall and John Madden won't be in the booth together next season, The Associated Press learned Tuesday.

Summerall's announcement that he's leaving his longtime NFL broadcast partner after the Super Bowl was to come in a conference call with reporters Tuesday afternoon, two industry sources said on condition of anonymity.

The sources said they did not know whether Summerall will remain at Fox with a new announcing partner.

Summerall's play-by-play and Madden's color analysis have combined to form one of pro football's signature announcing teams. This season is their 21st together in the booth. Both moved from CBS to Fox Sports in 1994.

They will call Fox's telecast of the Super Bowl on Feb. 3. It will be Summerall's 17th Super Bowl broadcast.

He has been associated with the NFL for half a century as a player and announcer.

His TV career began in 1961 at CBS, where he later was teamed with Madden.

Why exactly are they doing this? I've always enjoyed Madden/Summerall broadcasts. It doesn't make sense to me.

From what I understand, Summerall wanted to try some other things while he still can. He used to be involved with golf, tennis, and the like, so I guess he wanted to shake things up while he still can.

Horrible news for the average football viewer.

WOAH WOAH WOAH.... Easy guys!

I think Madden and Summerall ABSOLUTELY SUCK!

They're over the hill, can't nearly announce as good as guys on CBS and ESPN... and do not say anything relevant to the games anymore..... basically, they're too old. Madden just slobbers over himself thinking about eating and says useless one-liners and Summerall is slower than a handicapped snail.

I am glad they're over. The Super Bowl's gonna suck thsi year because its on FOX.

I'm with Jared on this one. I think they're absolutely horrible.

I think they suck too, but not nearly as bad as "funnyman" Dennis Miller.

My take is the ESPN Sunday Night crew should be the Monday Night Football crew.

CBS's analysts are great.... FOX on the other hand leaves something to be desired.... talent.
