Unhappy Thoughts and prayers for HOFer Ted Williams

He's one of baseball's all-time greats, so let's hope he can recover and survive this - our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Ted Williams hospitalized in serious condition

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Ted Williams was in serious condition Friday after being hospitalized with a high temperature and low blood pressure.

The 83-year-old Hall of Famer was taken from his home by ambulance Thursday to Shands Hospital at the University of Florida, about 50 miles away.

"He is in serious but stable condition and is resting comfortably," Shands spokeswoman Kristi Lam said Friday morning. She said that was all the information the Williams family had authorized the hospital to release.

Williams was given fluids and antibiotics in the intensive care unit Thursday, and his vital signs improved, the Boston Globe reported. His temperature was 100 degrees before he arrived, the newspaper said.

Hopefully he makes it through this. Hasn't he been in the hospital quite a lot this past year?

Hopefully he's going to be all right. I heard it was only a chest cold.

Yes, he has been in the hospital a lot this past year. He had heart surgery in 2001 and has been recovering.

Oh ok. I wasn't sure if my mind was just playing games on me.

I've heard that the reports are not particularly good about his condition. He has had several strokes and has had heart trouble for years. I wish him the best, as always.

Yeah, he hasn't been in great condition. He has limited vision and limited mobility, because of the strokes suffered a few years ago.

I pray he'll be fine.

I wish him a speedy recovery. He is the last of the great icon from that special baseball era.
