Default Larry Fitzgerald: Heisman Winner???

Now Larry Fitzgerald has been putting up great #s this season for Pitt and is dominating at WR. He's amazing and is being called "the best WR in college football ever."

I think he should win the Heisman even though he's at WR.

And also another good reason that makes him look good is that Rutherford (QB) isn't that good. Also he's only a "sophmore" which means he must be good. Yah Fitzgerald!!!!
Go Pitt!!!

Do you think this great sophmore reciever should win the Heisman ???

A Sophmore Wide Receiver on a team with a pair of losses, and probably more, doesn't deserve the Heisman, especially this year. Jason White deserves it. He has had an awesome year for an undefeated team that has played absolutely amazing football.

I agree that he won't win it, but it should. The Heisman should be given to the best overall/most superior player, as it says on the trophy, but in reality, it is given to the best player on the best team. I think Jason White will win if the Sooners keep it up.

I think he is more of a product of the system than anything. When you throw for 65 times a game, you have to expect big numbers. It's interesting to note that Tech's coach is a former assistant at Kentucky under Hal Mumme when Kentucky racked up huge numbers with Couch and Lorenzen.

The Heisman, much like the MVP award in all sports, is not what it is meant to be. it's always given to the the best player on the best team. It's SUPPOSED to be given to the best PLAYER IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

If it went on the terms originally created for the award, then yes. Larry would make Minneapolis proud and be the Heisman Trophy winner.

But, since it no longer works that way....Jason White will win it.

Well we have A TIE so far.4 to 4.

Pitt has to do good to make Fitzgerald look better.
And they beat VT last night in the final minute which could help him out. I didn't check his stats yet though,
But I think he still should win it as of right now.

Anyways , GO PITT !!!

End

I voted no (awhile ago, I just never posted a response.) Fitzgerald is having a great season but he has too much against him. He's only a sophmore and plays on a 2 loss team. I really think Jason White should get it. He's put up the numbers and not just against cupcake teams but in the big games he's come up with huge games and led his team to the win (even if both were blowouts). If Fitzgerald doesn't put up a fight to get into the NFL this year like Clarett did he will have a much better shot next year.

Rod Rutherford is a fine college quarterback. He played well against a very good Virginia Tech defense last night.

Thankyou The J. I agree totally, I'm glad someone else does. From what I've seen, and I watch a lot of Big East football cause its entertaining as heck and its on ESPN a lot, Rutherford is the best QB in his conference at least. He is probably top ten to top fifteen in the nation in my opinion also. He is accurate for one, he has a strong arm, makes good decisions, and he is mobile. I don't think a Pitt fan could ask for any more from his QB.

Should Fitzgereld win the Heisman?

No.

Should Jason White win the Heisman?

No.

Eli Manning should win the Heisman this year. He is carrying an otherwise mediocre Ole Miss team on his back and could very well lead them to their first SEC title in 40 years. The guy does it all at quarteraback, he has paid his dues and is finally winning and it is largely because of him. He puts up 300-400 yards a game and has a ton of touchdowns.

I hate Rutherford, but... that might have something to do with the "Pittsburgh" on his chest...

I like Fitzgerald as the #2 vote-getter, right behind Jason White.

I think Manning's a solid #4, behind #3 behind Kevin Jones.

I think you're selling the Ole Miss defense extremely short in putting the Rebels' success squarely on Manning's shoulders. They've done the job when they had to (and the Rebels owe Obamanu a giant debt of gratitude), containing Leak (something only LSU has accomplished), limiting the Auburn rushing attack to but one touchdown, etc., etc. While I've begun to buy into Manning, I'm still not certain about him. Will he be a better pro than Jason White? More'n likely, but I don't think he's the outstanding player that White has been this year.

(And, for once, can we just give the award to a guy for a single year's performances. Palmer got it last year almost as a reward for redeeming himself. Others get it for careers all the time. White would be a winner who had no previous career to speak of; just one really incredible year with one really incredible team.)
