Default WCF: Dallas Mavericks vs Phoenix Suns

Changing of the guard in the Mavs/Spurs saga. Just as when the Spurs vaulted the Lakers as the dominant Western Conference team in 2003 (LA's Finals appearance in 2004 not withstanding), the Mavericks may very well have vaulted past San Antonio. I'll tell you what, they sure proved me wrong. I still like Phoenix in the Western Finals, though. Kurt Thomas will be back and contributing for the Suns inside. Both Phoenix and Dallas will run, run, run. If that's the case, advantage: Suns. Hopefully, it's even half as good as last year's series. All of this without Amare is just incredible. Mavs are still drunk on beating the Spurs. Suns in six.

Kurt Thomas back.... you have to wonder how effective he will be, and how that will affect the team chemistry.
I like the Mavs to take the West in 7.

Is Steve Nash out of gas? I was suprised the Clipps hung as long as they did with the Suns. Dallas looks to me like they have a little more steam left. I'm going Dallas in 7

Suns in 6. No reason, other than I hate Nowitski

121-118 Suns...

I swear...I don't know how long these Suns can keep this up with such a short bench but man....This is ridiculous...

Good point. I remember a comment he made after one of the games they lost to S.A. "If I score 20 points, we should win." No, if you score 20 AND PLAY DEFENSE you should win.

Dallas is one of the few teams that can play that style and hang with Phoenix..
I wonder what was said between best buddies Nash and Nowitzki before the game.... like on that phone call one of them made the night before, I'll bet... I'd love to hear that one.
My 'money's still on Dallas though; I think they're deeper and I think crafty Avery Johnson will figure out a way to outmaneuver D'Antoni.
Or maybe I just wanna see Mark Cuban go crazy and do a white boy dance on the court, paying thousands of dollars in fines just for a moment of fun.
Either way, good times I like both teams.
Just wish we could be treated to watching Amare in the middle.... next year

I'll go Dallas in 7 even though they are already down 1-0.

I understand you can't punch Raja Bell at the end with that jumper, but I do believe they will allow a little more contact than that Dallas...sheesh. Atleast get within 100 feet of him.

That was a helluva game tonight. Kurt Thomas never even made an appearance. The bigger story, though, is that both Josh Howard and Raja Bell sustained injuries. Verrrrrrry interested to see if those have a prolonged effect. Devin Harris sure showed up to play, so that's at least one teammate Dirk can't stab in the back. Great game. Boris Diaw is big time. Again, if this is a "running" series, like tonight, Dallas won't last. I expect major adjustments on their part for game 2.

This series is so painful to watch because it should be the Clippers fighting the Mavs. It's amazing how 2 freakin plays changes the entire outcome of a series. Nash's game winner in game 3 against the Clippers, and then Raja Bell's 3 pointer in game 5. I can't watch the WCF this year. Too depressing.
