Default SCMB Playoff Pick'em Contest: New Rules

The SCMB Postseason Pick'em Contest is returning this year, albeit in a different format from that which had been observed in the past.

One change is that everyone is welcome to give their picks, regardless of how they had fared in the regular-season Pick'em contest (in the past only the top certain number of finishers in the regular-season version qualified).

Here's how it will go:

Each week all playoff games will be picked, straight up (unlike in the Pointspread Contest where, as its name inevitably suggests, the picks are to be made against the spread). In each playoff round, one of the games to be played that week will also require a prediction of what the total combined score of the game will be, in addition to the winning team.

The same point system as that observed during the regular season (5 points for first place, 4 for second, 3 for third, 2 for fourth, and 1 each to all other participants) remains in effect for each week of the pick 'em, with the picker with the highest point total after the Super Bowl winning the contest.

If, after the Super Bowl, two (or more) pickers have the same number of points, the picker with the best overall record in all 11 games will be declared the winner; if this is tied as well, the tie will be decided in favor of the picker who had the Super Bowl winner picked correctly over any who did not; if there is still no resolution, the better record in the two divisional playoff games will be used, followed by the four divisional playoff games (if the latter is also tied then so will the record in the four wild card games be). In the event that a tie still exists, the predicted combined score in the Super Bowl will be used, followed, in order, by the predicted combined score in the designated conference championship game, the designated divisional playoff game, and the designated wild card game.
