Wow! I'm Kinda surprised to see my Boilers make that list. With the amount of defensive talent we lost I think it might be hard to stay in the Top 25. I'd be glad to see them prove me wrong.

It has been a long time since the Georgia Bulldogs have been rated so high. I wouldn't say I was a "fan," but I do remember the performance of a runningback named Herschel Walker. So dominant! I can only wonder if the Bulldogs have some boomers comin' outta the gate!

Hmmm.... my Mountaineers at #12...

Guessing that when real polls come out in late July or early August, whenever preseason polls with actual weight come out, WVU will not be in the top 20, if even in the top 25.

Still, with the Big East hopelessly emasculated, the Mountaineers are pretty solid favorites to win the Big East -- defense (as Maisel points out), Rasheed (another point he makes) and KJ, as in Kay Jay Harris. Kay Jay is a wonderful running back specimen, if he can keep his head on straight: 6'2", 235lbs, runs a 4.4 40; he can bowl 'em over in the front seven and then explode through the secondary. Whether he keeps his head on straight, accepts the fact that running for five or six yards is almost as good as running for fifty or sixty (he tries to do too much to find openings into which he can explode and outrun everyone rather than pounding straight ahead for the short yardage that moves chains), he'll be a real prospect.

Dawgs are going down. Last time they were ranked that high was when they had Quincy Carter and they finished the year unranked. At least, let's all hope so. I hate Georgia.

Number 4 is an insult to UGA this year! I think Oklahoma will lose 3 games. LSU was a fluke last year, I'd give them 2 losses.

Geez 33, i've been gone for ages and come back to find you still UGA bashing.

As for the high rankings, it worries me to know end. If Richt rotates QBs, the Dawgs are doomed. If not, there is only one game I am worried about. UF. We have LSU and Tech at home, the Vols are severely depleted, and Auburn still has no QB. If Uga can get over the Gator, they may have a chance to win the whole thing.

One other thing. SEC title will be UGA vs Auburn.

Thanks Marc. Had some personal issues that slowed me down for a while, but hopefully i will be able to get back here and show that there are a few, albeit VERY few, reasonable UGA fans.

Everyone's high on Cal this year. I personally think they overachieved last year. How hard is it to beat V Tech in your bowl game when the Hokies lay down every year after their first loss?

No Michigan State up there I see...hmmm...that's a mistake.

78, since you mentioned Va Tech, does anyone think its odd they aren't at least in the top 25.

I wouldn't necessarilly say LSU was a fluke. They had a hell of a team last year. But they lost a ton of talent, and i do think them being ranked so high is strange.

Anyone else notice Clemson snuck into the top 15. If Whitehurst stays healthy, they could be very dangerous.

So, I just picked up the Athlon College Football preview this evening... and they have WVU at #5!!!

Can't help but quiver in my boots at that. They have WVU winning every game, with some shakiness v Maryland (against whom Rodriguez has problem after problem)...

Nuttiness. And they like our QB Rasheed Marshall. Marshall's not that great, but with Chris Henry (who is the next Antonio Bryant) to throw to, Marshall could have some pretty good numbers.

There's a lot of quiet noise surrounding Clemson.
Can't help but feel like they're the NC State/UVa from a year ago. A lot of folks thought NC State would be better than they were, and a lot of folks thought UVa would sneak up on folks (yours truly embarrassingly included). There's something un-tough about Clemson and Tommy Bowden that makes me skeptical about early summer predictions regarding them...

The Sporting News has WVU at #15 Dave, for whatever that's worth. Georgia's numbr one in that poll.

Clemson seems to be everyone's baby Dave since that win over FSU last year. NC St. is suppossed to be down, yet TSN has them beating my Buckeyes down there ( to which I am amused at).

The Big East is in a weird situation with having hardly any conference members.

WVU's lineup out of conference...East Carolina, at C. Fla, Maryland, James Madison, and at old Big East rival V Tech. Not a bad showing for your Mountaineers Dave, but not overwhelmingly impressive. I'm not sure how hard to ride any of the Big East school's on a weaker schedule ( which I love to do) because I know they were in such disaray to get ANYONE to play. Considering the circumstances, I'd say that's a pretty decent schedule for WVU.

Still, give it up for Cuse...
at Purdue, at Buffalo, Cincy, at Virginia, and home against Florida St. That's a tough path. Whoever lined that up, give 'em a cigar.

TSN is high on your Mountaineers offense, but says the pass defense is the problem Dave. Just passing it along.

I'll bet anything I have that Utah is not ahead of Ohio State when the year is over.
