Cool NFL teams, start your engines, the FA period has begun...

This being the day that marks the star of the shopping spree for many NFL teams, what do you think will be the surprises at FA, which players could have a significant impact on their new teams, and who are the sleepers on this period.

Remember, many NFL teams WILL spend this offseason, since the salary cap has been raised, and the majority have worked their salary cap better than past years.

I hope the Bronc's can get some help at the DL, and I just found out that the Bucs released LB Ian Gold, who flourished in Denver a couple of seasons back. If the nab him, there's gonna be great talent at the LB position there, mainly because we're switching to the 3-4 alignment this year. What I'm not impressed about is how Denver acquired Gerard "Big Money" Warren from Cleveland. I have a lot of concerns on the guy.

Well, Warren only cost the Broncos a 4th round pick and I think he is only due to make just a shade under a million this year with a 1.3 million roster bonus so it is not like the Broncos are taking a huge risk here.

Ravens pick up Derrick Mason. Good pick up for them if it is one thing they need it is a reliable reciever and Mason is just that.

Rams pick up Dexter Coakley. Waste of money if you ask me. The guy is 32 years old and clearly showed last year that he is entering the twilight of his career.

Joe Andruzzi to the Browns is an interesting one. He is not a great player but a good solid player that will bring the Browns some much needed veteran leadership more than anything else.

Interestingly enough Corell Buckhalter signed a 2-year deal to stay in Philly. I figured he was a goner seeing as he is coming off a blown knee and always seemed to manage to get into Reid's dog house every year.

T. J. Houshmandzadeh is staying put in Cincy.

Good job by the Ravens picking up Mason, now if they can get a QB, with that defense, they've got a great shot for the SB.

Raiders also pick up LaMont Jordan too bad their defense still blows.

I'm not so sure how good a move this was; maybe the Ravens should have tried to sign Plaxico Burress instead. Not only is Burress younger and bigger than Mason, but signing Burress would also have weakened their most important division rival in addition to strengthening their own team.

BIG Pat Williams signs with my Vikes.

Numerous sources are reporting the Vikings are interested in trading for either or both, Patrick Surtain and/or Anquan Boldin.

So where is Plax headed then?

My best bet is that he'll end up with the J-E-T-S, but I read some articles this morning saying that the Ravens still are in pursuit of him.
This would look kinda weird because the Ravens have already invested a ton of money on Mason, and should get a second-tier receiver via the market or the draft.

I read a brief time ago that the Vikes were looking to replace Randy with Plax.

The Steelers have almost NO CHANCE of being able to sign Plax, Anthony. Baltimore's signing him wouldn't have affected the Steelers a lick. His absence was preordained by the salary cap and his want for more money than Pittsburgh can give him.

My Packers might lose both guards to FA, and Davenport is restricted; I think the Packers want a fourth-round pick for him. That could be a huge blow to the offense as Favre and Green really depended on having a solid o-line.

Speaking of guys who where in limbo as to where their choices were, here's an interesting article today for Jeremiah Trotter. He's apparently signed with the Eagles for modest money.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=2005036

In my opinion, it was best for him to stay at Philly, knowing his medical history might have come in place, and also being comfortable and at peace with a team that gave him a second chance last season.

Trotter is indeed ALL HEART!!

Well, the teams that were interested in him are teams that have question marks for next year and Philly has positioned itself to remain an elite team for next year. Earlier this week it sounded as though Trotter was looking to make another cash grab the way he did a couple of years ago.

For all of the pining Green Bay does about wanting Favre to come back next year they sure do not seem to be doing a whole lot entice him to come back. Letting two of your starting offensive linemen walk is not a way to endear yourself to your aging veteran QB.
