Not that I can recall.

For the last few years I had class adjacent to a book storage room. This year they moved the books and told me I could use that book storage room as an office if I wanted to do so.

The Plan:

Get a mini-refrigerator, a couch, a TV and some beer and hide in there.

Nah, he's far enough north that it won't effect me....

Then again, I am going to be visiting campuses in Ohio fairly soon to sell some books. I'll try to avoid Youngstown

If Ken doesn't have me incarcerated we should make a day of it when you come up to YSU. Only have to take one step off campus to get that "life experience" I speak so highly of.

I'll definitely let you know when I'll be in the area. Too bad I don't sell to highschools... I'd love to try to "pitch" our products to you :thumbsup2:

Oh, I get it now.

You're one of those college-educated kids who like to come in and tell me how to do my job.

Damn CK...no wonder we clash so much.

Had one of 'em in here last week at my "diversity training" that was a real gem. Child tried telling me about race and gender equality.

No, I don't tell people how to do their job. I'm not a very good salesman... I have trouble with the "sleaziness" involved with selling.

I'm better at the relationship building thing. Then, once the professor starts to like me, they usually adopt my book.

Race and gender equality? Sounds like my kind of dude

I thought all professors wrote their own books so they could rape...ah...I mean force the university to use it. That is after they revise 2 words the following semester, repackage it and sell it new again for about $100 more.

That's pretty close to how it works.

I'm not sure if you read my post a while back about the text book industry, I think it was while arguing capitalism with Phil... If not, I'll try to find it for you.

It's a joke, but a profitable joke.

I graduated in June, 2006 complaining about the inability to sell my used books and the high cost of new books.

By July, 2006 I was working to devalue used-books and force new texts into the bookstore...

We revise our low-level philosophy texts every two years. In case you haven't noticed, Plato isn't putting out any new material.

Wow, and I figured it out without the help of said college books.

Don't sweat it CK. When my brother was at OU (when Plato may have been putting out new material ) a kid there tried organizing a student bookstore to squash the monopoly. And that was when it wasn't even too expensive to go to school.

Somehow brass found a way to "eliminate" the problem and the store never materialized.

Here's to "higher education"...:thumbsup2:

Make sure you check out my book about the profits of publishers and the cost to our students...

It will be published by my company

Yeah, we have plenty of tricks to make sure that stuff doesn't happen.

You're focusing too much on the negative. Don't get me wrong, the system is flawed (maybe flawed at the core), but there are plenty of positive things about higher education.
