Default Pujols to Angels!

Quote:
DALLAS -- Three-time NL MVP Albert Pujols agreed Thursday to a $254 million, 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels.

Pujols' contract, which is subject to a physical, is the second-highest in baseball history and only the third to break the $200 million barrier, following Alex Rodriguez's $252 million, 10-year deal with Texas before the 2001 season and A-Rod's $275 million, 10-year contract with the Yankees before the 2008 season.
Wow, shocker. I felt Pujols would be a lifetime Cardinal. This all happened in the last 48 hours. Thoughts?

I'm disappointed that the Cardinals didn't offer him 10 years/$220MM last winter. He'd have probably signed it then.

Too much money for one player, especially one who will be 42 by the time the contract is up. The Cardinals shouldn't have even offered him as much as they did.

That being said, given that the team that gave him his MLB start, and treated him like royalty offered him 22 million per year and he didn't take it, I lost all respect for Albert Pujols yesterday.

Especially after he was quoted as saying before that he wouldn't leave St. Louis for 3 or 4 million per year.

The only difference between Lebron and Albert is this - Lebron left the money to get the championships. Albert left the championships to get the money.

I say good riddance. He can take his talents to LA for all I care.
