Ok maybe not but WOW!

The best football team in the NFL and Super Bowl champs get taken out by a 3-11 team!

There is hope for the Colts after all!

In a season of utter disappointments, this one felt good. This was kind of Miami's superbowl tonight.

Dolphins 29, Patriots 28. And a come from behind by 11 points in the final 3 minutes to boot.

In case anyone was wondering, yes, I did a dance, I chanted Steelers chants and am still occasionally pumping my fist in victory.

I feel dirty, because I hate the 'Fins and hate when they win games (for my anti-Fins disposition, this has been an awesome season) but my Stillers needed the Pats to drop a game somewhere in the next three. With the Fins, Jets and Niners up, it looked bad. (I still expect the Steelers might drop a game in the final two, so I wanted the Pats to lose badly--I have little faith that the Steelers could win the AFC title up here in Foxboro.)

So, the Fins pull it out.
Awesome.

This just shows anybody can win on any night.

And that anybody - including a two-time Super Bowl champion - can choke on any night!

I think the Pats and their fans should be more worried than the "this was a trap game" scenario. Troy Brown did not look impressive against the Dolphins wideouts. Imagine him matched up against the likes of Hines Ward and Plaxeco Burris.

If anyone is contemplating suicide, here's a creative way to do it: Walk into any bar in the Boston area and start singing the Notre Dame Fight Song.

The Curse of Chuck Fairbanks is back - with a vengeance.

Funny you mention that as the Steelers game was the first game where Brown saw action as a DB this season. He actually held his own there all things considered. But, one has to think that playing both ways may be taking a toll on him a bit.

Dear Miami Dolphins,

Thanks a lot for the Christmas present. It was really thoughtful of you. We appreciate it a lot.

We look foreward to clinching home-field with a win now, and you helped us out.

Signed,
The Pittsburgh Steelers

Okay, the 'Fiins are not the real deal, contrary to this thread's title. But I wonder how much this has to do with Charlie Weiss' distractions had to do with this, and how they will fare without him. It's an interesting theory.

Marc,

You have to over look that. I created this post and someone merged it with bombers and didn't really realize that the title doesn't go along with bombers first post. The original and first post I made is second.

the first post should be mine stating:

The Phins are the real deal!

Ok maybe not but WOW!

That should help you understand the title.

Bomber and I posted at the sametime......

The discussion regarding Weis' distraction level picked up some steam today, with both the Boston Herald's Kevin Mannix and Boston Globe's Ron Borges mentioning it in columns in today's papers.

However, the "there's no distraction" folks do have a point when they point out that:
1. The Pats have scored first in their last 19 games, including an opening drive that looked masterful and seemed to set the tone for a big blowout.
2. Weis didn't suggest that Brady throw the ball as he was being pulled down by Jason Taylor. Normally, Brady eats that. But, probably because he threw while sitting on his ass against the Bengals, he threw that ball, and it ended up costing the game.
3. Weis has nothing to do with the problems on defense, the secondary in particular, which the Dolphins were able to abuse a lot, especially late in the game.

So, while I think the idea is one worth mentioning, we'll see better the effects of Notre Dame this week. And maybe not really till they face the Niners. If the Pats can't hang 35 or more on the Niners, maybe there's a problem on offense, too.

But, right now, D is the Patriots' primary concern.
