Default Artest vows to play "out of control"

So, Ron, what do you think after your year-long suspension? Real sorry for your actions, right?

Uh... :finger:

As long as he keeps his "out of control" stuff on the court...

Sometimes it's hard being a Pacers fan with this guy on the team. Undeniably, he's a good player, but his temper gets him into trouble and I often wonder if it's really worth it.

I agree with Nate. I am not necessarily interpreting this as, "I'm gonna run up in the stands again if I feel like it."

Hey, Artest is the second best player on the Pacers and a hell of a basketball player all-around. He is the NBA's version of Randy Moss for the NFL. Randy's actions can make anyone turn their head and gasp but in the end, wouldn't you like to have him on your team? same deal with Artest.

Not a big deal really. Just a good line for the media to run with. I'm sure the Pacers have an entire staff working around the clock keeping Artest in line.

Artest just wants to sell you his CD's before and after the game.

I would not want Randy Moss on my Team, or T.O. I think some players are not worth their drama, no matter how good their numbers may be. They can cause all kinds of trouble - on, or off the court/field.

I would not want Artest on my Team. Take last year for example - one could make the arguement that because he was suspended for the year, he cost his team a chance at a championship.

Here would be a scenario: What if they had another SF (not as good as Artest, but half way decent) starting, he would of played all season and could very well be a better player than a "last minute" replacement they have to find, because all of a sudden your starting SF is out due to his suspension.

Yes he's a good player, but sometimes you have to look at the risks and I think last year was a classic example of that. Who know's what they would of done with him in for the whole season. And now Miller's retired - they could of blown their chance.

Moss never beat down a paying customer or ever got suspended. Artest's actions were on another level and really can not be compared to anything Randy Moss ever did. what's sad is the fact Artest apparently doesn't care and is the reason he is still a danger. Moss at the very least backed down and is being called a leader by his teammates.

On top of that Artest has never been accused of quitting on his team and not putting forth the effort on the floor. Artest is the complete opposite of Randy Moss.

I don't know why Artest blatently said that he was going to play "out of control". Now the refs are going to have all eyes on him in every game he plays in.

Because he's an idiot. C'mon now, this guy aint exactly eloquent when you get a microphone in front of his face. He's a headcase and a borderline sociopath. But he plays hard and seems to get along with most of his teammates. On the court, he is a great defender and offensively, he can create his own shot, consistently make open jumpers, post up, grab offensive rebounds and handle the ball when needed. How many players in this league are that versatile? And he's doing this all at a salary of $6.5 million this year, $7.2 million next and $7.8 million for '07-'08, making Artest BY FAR the best value in the league.

Trust me, if Bird thought there was any way he could get even half the talent back for this kind on money, Ron Ron would be LONG GONE. Frankly, there's no cheaper talent like this available in the NBA. And along with a deal like that, you get a little baggage. (okay A LOT of baggage. And a horrible rap CD.)

Jay and Jay, I think you're both reading too much into this comment. And "sociopath?" C'mon. Immature to the extreme? True. But sociopath is waaaaaay overrstating it, and your picture and sig seem to endorse athlete violence as long as the context and the recipient are different.
