He wasn't gonna play this season in the NHL anyway whether there was a lockout or not. Plus he has been contemplating retirement anyway.

IMO the best player in the NHL.

He was done with the NHL anyway he stated that before the lockout so this would have happended either way. If his carrer is really over that is a big hit to the game becuase he is one of the biggest names in hockey.

I always liked Forsberg. He has a tremendous amount of talent and always played the game hard even though he had more than his fair share of injuries during his career. I would venture to say that had he been able to avoid some of his injuries, he would be among the greatest of all time. That's also assuming he would have played several more seasons.
