Default Selig and cronies keeping Cuban out of Chicago?

Report: 'Zero chance' that MLB will accept Cuban's Cubs bid

If Mark Cuban sidles up to fellow Cubs fans at future Wrigley Field games, apparently he'll have to do so as a ticket buyer.

His bid to buy the team from owner Sam Zell? According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Cuban won't even make the final cut if commissioner Bud Selig and Major League Baseball owners have their way.

"There's no way Bud and the owners are going to let that happen," a baseball source told the Chicago Sun-Times earlier this week. "Zero chance."

Could be some miscellaneous guy talkin' trash but I don't know. Bad economy and the full article states the process is dragging. Maybe they'll give him a look in the end.

How'd Cuban play at Wrigley?

I like Cuban. I'm not sure how much he'd fit in at Wrigley, but the guy is cool in my book

The sentiment has been out there for a while that Cuban will never own a Major League team because MLB prefers its owners to toe the line and not do things the way they see fit. It is all they can do to stomach the Steinbrenners.

Personally, I'd prefer to see Cuban end up with a team like the Pirates or Royals that needs an owner like Cuban who will be willing to sink money into the team and take a short term loss in an effort to revitalize the franchise like he did with the Mavericks. The Cubs don't really need a guy like Cuban running the team.

If it's true, it's unfortunate because Cuban is a great owner and guy. I enjoy his blog, BlogMaverick.com. But he's a smart guy, he'll figure out a way around it if he wants.

I'm sure he could be an "invisible" partner in a group that buys a team. He is certainly smart enough to know how to set something like that up, legally.
