ESPN has a nice writeup about the 'Allan Houston Rule' and about how it probably will not have as big an impact as some first though it may:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/column...arc&id=2113328

Honestly, I only really see guys like Mashburn who have no real chance of playing anymore to be cut loose so their teams can at least save some money on a guy who is not playing at all.

Based on this the major names that will be dumped are:
Houston
Finley
Grant (if you wanna call him a major name)

Didn't see Mash in there but, yeah, he should be dropped too.

Wow, I forgot all about Mash. Remember how well he was playing right before his health gave out?

Yea he was a top tier player. Sad to see a guy derailed like that.

I don't think he has played in over a year, I know he did not play at all last season. He still has two years and 20 mil left on his contract with no real hopes of playing again. I could see the Sixers cutting him loose here just to save the 20 mil hit in luxury tax over the next two years.

Wow, I didn't know he was getting that much for nothing. He's gotta be right up there with Larry Johnson for the NBA player with the highest contract while not even playing.

If memory serves though, I believe Mash had a bad attitude with the Hornets organization at the end of his tour of duty with them.

Okay, huge Monster Mash fan here going back to 1992 and his days with Pitino at Kentucky...

It's not his fault his health gave out on him and he already had a huge contract. In fact, I would like to be in his position, basically kicking back in South Beach, where he lives. But anyway, what happened was he lost a lot of cartilage in his knee and couldn't play anymore. I wish I could find an update on him.

Isn't Mashburn unofficially retired?

Actually, I did some Googling and I think he is pretty much retired, yeah. Thanks for the memories, Mash.

Yeah, he basically is unofficially retired. Most media types don't think he will ever play again. The Sixers currently hold his contract.

I think Grant Hill made between $10 and $12 million all those years he was nursing his ankles.

By the way, I'd just like to throw this out there: Kwame Brown is garbage.

Thank you.

He is pretty bad but he is still only 23 so I don't think we should write him off yet.

So, when he's 24, then?

Eddy Curry was bad and last year he started to come into his own a bit and I believe that we might see much of the same thing from Kwame and if he turns out to be a even decent player then the lakers won the deal.
