Default Last Week of Regular Season...

Just thought maybe we'd do one more weekly thread. Couple of things have been on my mind this week.

1. I am getting so sick of ESPN's stupid scenarios with the Patriots playing the teams of the past... this is seriously getting out of hand.
I feel like there is so much more they could be talking about. Instead they are making sh1t up now???

2. The San Diego Chargers are offically little "b1tches". After all their cry-baby talk about the Patriots last year "mocking" their stupid Merimen "Sac Dance" and how the Patriots are "classless" for so-called talking ish... and then Rivers goes out and pulls that crap on monday night? I used to actually root for the Chargers back in 2005 (after NE was eliminated) because they were an up and coming team. Not anymore... they are seriously the biggest hypocrits and whiners in the NFL. This team is straight garbage... they will prob get an easy win in the WC game because they face either the Browns or Tenn... but after that.. see ya next year...

Oh totally agree with you on both points. ESPN tried that s hit with USC vs other NC teams a couple of years ago. Very lame, to say the least.....

Oh, and who the hell is Philip Rivers that he can mock any other player? That team won many games in spite of his play. I hope they go down big time in the first round.....

ESPN has been doing this crap for years now. It has become tradition for them to have mock playoffs at the beginning of the season just to fill up 20 minutes of SportsCenter.

They do a mock season for college football now where every night for a couple of weeks in the summer they play out what happens to the top 25 teams in their dream world.

Just another example of ESPN trying to make news as opposed to report the news.

Yea that patriots stuff is so dumb. Of course they would beat the 72 Dolphins there middle linebacker weighed all of 170 pounds. It's a completly different game. As far as the chargers go I am with you Steve ever since brees left I have hated that team. They take on the personality of there GM who is a complete douche.

The 2007 Patriots wouldn't even be able to touch the 1989 49ers...

Vandal... come on man... the whole point was how pointless those arguments are?
Like DM3 said... look how much bigger those guys are these days?
I mean... just cuz the Patriots are having a great season we have to compare them...
A. They would KILL any team that played before 2000
B. Hell I could name about 5 other current teams that would KILL these teams of the past. We were taking about how physical the Jags defense is this season... could you imagine those guys getting a hold of players in the 80's?? We are talking about LB's outwieghing guys by like 150lbs!!

okay... they why arent we talking about tom brady as the greatest quarterback of all time??? why do we talk about those teams of the past like they're the greatest thing since sliced bread??? i think seifert could easily come up with a scheme for that 89' niners team to beat down this patriots team.

What. Vandal CB's weren't as fast it's a fact. There DL would be eaten alive by the MUCH bigger OL of the pats. The team comparisons are Sooo pointless.

Well I'm all for what ESPN does with college football, because they're making an underlying point - that is, that they wholeheartedly support a real playoff system therein. And for that matter, so do I.

But this stuff matching up this year's Patriots with other teams from what amounts to previous generations is pretty lame.

So far as the Chargers go: Even if they don't get past the Elite Eight this year, they've in effect weathered the storm that both the coaching change and the schedule imposed on them. Looking ahead to next season, their schedule will be much less difficult, and San Diego could overtake the Colts as New England's heir apparent in the AFC (as Indianapolis is projected to take a sharp rise in schedule difficulty).

I could go on about how I believe that the Patriots are an extremely serious threat to go 16-0 next year as well, but I suppose that's a suitable topic for a different thread.
