Show off your spring desktop!

We haven't had one of these in a while, so I thought I'd start a new thread for this. Mine's attached. :D

Note: If you need instructions, hit "Print Screen" on your keyboard and then open up MS Paint or a similar program and then proceed to pasting it into a new image. Save it as .jpg or .gif and attach it here.

Hmm... OK. Why did you open up your start menu??
And BTW, I can't show mine 'cause I'm not at home right now. :)

air_canada 03-23-2002 06:47 PM

Yes, 'rather' nice. :)
Good shot of the twins ;)

air_canada 03-23-2002 07:52 PM

Here we go. The attached file is sized down. My normal screen resolution is 1280x1024.
You need to [click here] to get the full effect. :D

Neat! Nate, are you a weather fanatic by any chance? :P I always have the temperature running in my system tray, but I like what you have going on the desktop. How'd you achieve that?

Note: Anyone interested, is a great site for this.

Bradon: who is that?

Marc: I suspect by using the "Active Desktop" feature

Nate: Assuming it is by using the Active Desktop... but if not, I have a question anyway -- is it possible to make a frames web page as your active desktop?? I can't do that on Win98 and I'm wondering if I'm just not doing it right and if not.. can you on WinXP?

defska17 03-24-2002 01:00 AM

well i tried to attach but the file was too big so im giving up :P

you arent missing out on much anyways

brandon - that damn car is distracting!

Nate 03-24-2002 02:19 AM

Actually, I am not using ActiveDesktop, believe it or not. The weather is displayed using a program that was developed by an aquaintance of mine at another board. I currently have a mirror of his program available on my site: ...

Lee, I have no clue. I am an avid avoider of ActiveDesktop. Honostly, though, I do not see why using frames would be a problem on any system. PM me if you need some help and I can try to help you out.

lmanchur. 03-24-2002 11:31 AM

Nate -- well, this is like a 3.5- or 4-year old computer and it's Win98 first edition, so I would suspect it's just my system because I don't understand why having a frames page would be a problem either.

...but I'm getting a new computer on Wednesday with XP so I'll try it there then, too.

Soo... does that program you're using put the calendar there too?

Also, great site, Marc!!! -- I'll be sure to use that to get some cool backgrounds on my new computer (Dad doesn't like "complex" backgrounds... he finds it too hard to read the icons.... :D.. so I just have a blue Win98 background on this computer :( )

Def, check out this site to reduce your image size:

Also, Lee, is another great wallpaper site. Thanks for the link, Nate - checking it out.

So, Lee, Sam - where's your desktop?

air_canada 03-24-2002 12:59 PM

It's because mine is Webshots, you catch?
It changes every day. I usually have some old pics of the town where I live, movie backgrounds, also some natural scenes. I could download more, I guess I 'll do that.

1 Attachment(s) that a celeb on Brandon's 'paper or just one damn hot chick!? :D

Also.. here is.. my.. embarassing... desktop. My new one will be sweet but this one is littered with shortcuts & stuff for my dad's business and if it's anything but a solid background, he complains (old! :D) ... but I added a countdown ticker at the bottom of it so at least its SOMEWHAT interesting. . . . OK, it's not :)
