Ottawa/Atlanda Trade
To Ottawa:
RW: Dany Heatley

To Atlanta:
RW: Marian Hossa
D: Greg de Vries

I'm torn on this trade. Dany Heatley hasn't been the same player since the car accident, but he's a huge talent. Hossa is a solid player and de Vries is a tough defensemen with plenty of playoff experience. It looks like Atlanta has won this trade right now, but if Heatley can return back to form Ottawa will benefit greatly.

I agree but all this trade really looked to accomplish was to dump salary from Ottawa's standpoint. Who knows, maybe Heatley returns to form and the Sens can lock him up.......Atlanta fans should be smiling.

I dunno Habs Fan.... Heatly is a great player and I think Ottawa won this deal. Danny has HUGE upside and fits the Sens style of play.

This is a wait and see trade for sure. Before the accident I would say Ottawa might have gotten the better of the deal but I dont know now.

Heathen, SoCal sums up my position nicely. Before the accident I'd flat out agree with you but we'll have to wait and see.

Heatly could make Sens fans forget about Hossa, but only if he returns to form. I know that de Vries was only a throw-in but Brian is right, he's a solid defenseman with Stanley Cup "credentials". Surely a valuable asset for any team looking to win.

I agree. When I read about this move I thought, "that's a great fit". Now, if I could only get some out of market games. >:(

I think now that Heatly got out of Atlanta he will return to form and this will end up being a huge addition for the sens.

Agreed, he definitely was in need of a change of scenery. Playing for a winner will help him out tremendously, as well. And yet, at the same time, I believe the Thrashers also improved. De Vries is one more reliable defenseman than they're accustomed to having and I don't believe the drop off in talent from Heatly to Hossa is that big. To me, it appears to be a win-win. I'll be interested to see how Atlanta performs this year.
