MLB team salaries

I was looking to find a list of all of the team salaries in baseball, and I found a sortable database of team and player salaries past and present on usatoday.com

I don't know if anyone else really cares that much about this stuff, but I found it interesting and useful. Here it is if you want it-

2007 Tampa Bay Rays $ 24,123,500

2008 Tampa Bay Rays $ 43,820,597

Not too bad huh?

Interesting. When the Twins won the series in 1991, they were 16th in payroll. Now, they are 25th. During their run at the top of the AL Central, they were in the bottom half of the payrolls. I guess money doesn't buy success.

With how much salaries have increased in the last 15 years or so, it's crazy that the 1990 Kansas City Royals had a higher payroll than this year's Marlins. Just goes to show that small market clubs CAN compete, if they're willing to rebuild every 3 years or so. Nope, money doesn't buy success.

But it sure does help. The 1997 Marlins are a prime example, and the Yankees and Red Sox are in the postseason just about every year.
