Anthony is on a distinguished road
Default Top Story: Redskins Cut Jeff George

Yesterday the Redskins announced that Jeff George, their appointed "savior" at quarterback, has been released, and that Kent Graham has been signed to back up Tony Banks, who will start Sunday against Kansas City.

Does this mean that the Redskins have thrown in the towel for 2001? Not necessarily. Remember that although they are 0-2, both losses were on the road and neither was within the very winnable NFC East. If I were Marty Schottenheimer I would can the West Coast offense (for which Banks is no better a fit than George was) and go to an "East Coast offense" instead - just run the heck out of the football, as Stephen Davis has the size to (maybe) make this approach work. If Schottenheimer does go this route, look for Graham - who has been on teams with conservative, run-oriented offenses for most of his admittedly less-than-storied career - to supplant Banks as the starting QB rather quickly.

But the season is definitely still worth salvaging.

Marc will become famous soon enough

The season isn't over yet, it's too soon to discount anyone right now, when you have the Bengals and Browns atop the divisions. However, something needs to be done, including for their confidence, which is shaddered. They are embarrassed, and perhaps they could build off of anger for the big loss.
