Jerry West leaving Grizzlies

Jerry West is leaving as the Memphis Grizzlies' director of basketball operations at the end of this season, noting "I'm not a youngster anymore. I think the wear and tear of the season, particularly like this (has been tough). There's been a lot of turmoil here. The ownership thing have made it very difficult to concentrate on what we need to do here to improve our basketball team."

I doubt he stays away for long. Where does West end up next?

He's a great guy. I think its time for him to just retire and enjoy his late years as much as possible. I use to love to watch him play.

Yeah, I don't know. The guy is 69 and I am not entirely sure he has the energy to put into rebuilding a franchise which are typically the types of jobs that come open.

I say he is a consultant for the Lakers, or possibly some other team. The Grizzlies are now in such awful shape, and along with the ownership debacle, he just couldn't deal with it anymore. At this stage in his life, he shouldn't have to, either.
