Default What's your pick on the NFC

Want to know....

What's everybody's call on who's coming out of the
NFC this year.

I have my thoughts, but wanted to hear everyone else's first.

I hope the Packers do. I think it will come down to them and Dallas.

Obviously it will come down to Dallas and the Packers I don't think the Packers will come out on top I think Dallas is a better team and I think the Packers will lose 2 or 3 more games before the season is over and i think Dallas will keep playing strong maybe losing 1 or 2 more.

Dallas is a much more complete team than Green Bay is, until proven otherwise.

But neither of them would even have a chance against New England in the Super Bowl, so what's the point?

Despite what has been said on another thread, homefield
advantage IS a big deal...especially in the playoffs and
especially when it comes to the Green Bay/Dallas faceoff.

Dallas will win the East. They will also probably have the
homefield advantage...especially since the Packers have to
go to Dallas the week after Thanksgiving. Green Bay has
a psychological block in that they CAN'T win in Dallas, if
Dallas is any good. Dallas probably goes 13-3.

The other first-round bye will come out of the North, which
looks like Green Bay, unless they fade and Detroit catches
them at about 11-5 or so.

The winner of the south, which Tampa Bay has the upper hand
on right now, may get to 10-6, although 9-7 could also get it.
50/50 it will be the Bucs or the Saints. Carolina is in disarray
right now.

The winner of the west looks to be Seattle, because the rest
of their division sucks so bad. They could win it at 8-8, but
will probably be a little better than that.

New York will be the top Wild Card. Detroit probably the other.

In the playoffs, Dallas, at home, wins. The only block to this,
barring a weird upset, is if New York comes into play again as
the wild card. The division rivalry thing could be the tipping point.

Green Bay, at home, if they keep it together, should be able to
win against Seattle, New Orleans, or Tampa Bay, provided they
don't have a collapse (like they did against Atlanta a few years
back).

Fast forward to the Championship Game: Again...Green Bay CAN'T
win in Dallas (Obviously, I take no joy in this fact), so it looks
like the odds-on pick is Dallas as the team to get wasted by
New England in the Super Bowl.

Yeah, that Dallas / GB game is so huge... I think home field is the key to these two teams. I can't see Dallas going to GB in January and winning... nor can I see GB going to Dallas and pulling it off.

Really, how so? The Packers don't really have any obvious weaknesses. I'll take their D over Dallas', and lately the Packers have developed a running game to go along with an explosive downfield attack.

Unfortunately for many, the Dallas/GB game is on the NFL Network, so it won't get a huge audience. Luckily, I got it in HD, baby!

The Packers are playing exceptionally well on both sides of the ball. But the Cowboys are playing better. They rank higher in the league in total offense (second compared to fourth) and rushing (10th compared to 32nd), and are third to the Packers' first-ranked passing. The Cowboys also rank higher in the league in total defense (seventh compared to 10th), run defense (fifth compared to seventh), and pass defense (16th compared to 18th).
As for the argument of Favre for MVP... this clown made me laugh..
Quote:
Question: What do you think the chances are of Brett Favre winning a fourth MVP? Many people say that Tom Brady or Tony Romo should receive the MVP, but through Week 10, Favre is on one of the winningest teams with the least star power. There is no Terrell Owens/Jason Witten/Marion Barber-Julius Jones two-headed running back monster or Randy Moss/Wes Welker/Donte' Stallworth/Laurence Maroney weapons. Who has heard of Ryan Grant? Yet Favre has led a young Packers team with a young offensive line to an 8-1 record, even when opposing defenses know exactly what they are playing against.
My answer: Hey dude.. if winning with a bunch of nobody WR's won you MVP's, Tom Brady would have about 3 instead of Peyton Manning winning them with all his weapons. MVP is about individual numbers and thats it.

I really think all the teams in the NFC are so close that the determing factor will be Homefield who ever gets it will be in the superbowl.

Great to see ya, Dave!

I am leaning to Dallas right now, I'm not yet convinced the Packers or any other NFC team can beat them right now....

Farve in Lambeau in January on his last Hurrah is enough to make the 72 dolphins weak in the knees. dallas needs that game in Big D

Not to be nitpicky, Dallas doesn't play in a dome.
However, it is turf, and a bowl-type stadium that,
except for the open roof, might as well be a dome.

It is also death for Green Bay, if they have to play
the Championship game there.
