Default Gators do what they do best

Once again as they have throughout their history the Gators snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Two different recievers drop passes in the endzone and our kicker misses an easy kick. We get a miracle when Tennessee miss the extra point and Zook raisin's shrink up again and he gets conservative, even though Leak played awesome, and just runs up the middle to not get the 1st down. Then we get a penalty called on us only when both players reacted and the ref was watching it the whole time. Refs never see the first one and our player shouldn't have been so stupid though. Then we go the famous and never sucessful prevent and lose. Gators have done this stuff all the time throughout their history (a BUNCH against Georgia). Zook is especially good at not being agressive when you need to be. He had to realize by the end that our offense had to win the game for us and our defense wasn't stopping anybody.

On a plus side Leak looked great. He did everything right, from passing to game management. He was doing his best to win the game. Dropped passes and people not getting open during his amazing srambling didn't help him though.

For once in Zook's tenure, I think the Gators lost a tight game that doesn't fall squarely on his shoulders. I think the Gators were the better team all night, but didn't get the breaks.

Chris Leak is such a revelation.
That Eric Ainge kid from Tennessee ain't bad, either, though.

What exactly was that referee looking at when he called the personal foul on Baker?

Anyway, why do teams always play conservative with time running out and with the lead? Am I the only one who thought they should have called a play-action on 3rd and 3? If they get the first down, game over.

I don't know. We burned them on play action ALL NIGHT! That's what I meant about his raisins shrinking up.

But it shouldn't. Zook did nothing wrong.

The ref gave the Vols at least 15 extra yards in their attempt to get the win.
Running on third and three when no one has any timeouts left is the thing that makes the most sense. You punt with something around :20 showing on the clock (maybe :15, I don't remember the exact time situation). All the Vols have is two shots downfield, one to get into FG range, the second one an all-out Hail Mary. That wins more often than not.

There's no accounting for a side judge calling one foul on a play where two were clearly committed IN FRONT OF HIM.

Don't get me wrong, Zook's made his share of goofs. Tonight, I saw none.

I could call out some kind of bias, but they were both southern schools, so no chance at that with the refs. Yeah, it sucks for Fla, they got robbed. Oh well, I loved that another team in the evil three-headed monster ( Fla., FSU, Miami ) got a loss on their record. Two down, one to go, you're next Miami !

I would like to know what exactly the ref was doing at the end of that game. One could clearly see that ref staring right at both guys during the whole altercation. I'd like to hear is explanation for flagging the UF player only on that play.

But, aside from that it was a great college football game. Chris Leak is amazing and is probably the best QB I have seen in college this season. I don't see the two-headed QB monster lasting for long in UT just judging from last night's game Ainge is clearly the better QB.

Watching the game Ainge is proabably going to start IMO. I thought Channing played well too and was the only reason Tennessee didn't have eleventy billion yards rushing.

Unless one guy starts to choke, or play poorly consistently, I would be surprised if the Vols didn't continue to play the 2-QB system. It allows for game plan flexibility and keeps the pressure of "being the guy" off of both freshmen. Ainge was the man against Florida, but Schaffer will likely be the guy when they play someone stern up the middle, and against whom they need to get the ball to the perimeter.

More fuel to the fire for Gator fans. Now the SEC's supervisor of officials admits that the officiating crew made an error that led to Tennessee having more time to drive down and kick the winning field goal:

Well once again the gators played just good enough to lose. In three years under Zook the Gators have lost six games in the swamp in three years. Under Spurrier the Gators lost six home games in twelve years. BIG DIFFERRENCE!

While UT got a lot of help versus Florida, last week's loss to LSU at home really made me wonder about Zook.

In my opinion, the Gators just do not seem to have that mentality of really want to put a team away. And that responsibility falls upon Zook. For me, the most important aspect of the job of a head coach, especially in "amatuer" football, is to establish the psyche of the team.

If Zook cannot win the conference while Leak is in school, I can't imagine that he will survive beyond that.

Well I don't see Zook surviving to another year after this horrendous loss. The lowest scoring team IN THE NATION scored 38 points against us. Mississippi State loss to Maine for crying out loud.
