So I picked up one today. And I freaking love the guitar so......Of course there's Stairway to Heaven but, anyone have anything different to offer?

Hotel California

Let's hear it boys.

I forgot SRV, Santana, and BB King.

I give you Carlos Santana.

I'll take Layla over any of those.

Some of personal favorite solos to play on the guitar are:
1. Californication - RHCP
2. Immortality - Pearl Jam
3. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

All are pretty easy to play.

I wasn't granting him any style points.

You can't talk about guitar solos without mentioning the pioneer himself - Robert Johnson.

It's tough to find recordings (it's so old), but his influence can be heard in everything with a blues influence including:

Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, The Allman Brothers Band, The Rolling Stones, The White Stripes, The Black Keys, Peter Gabriel, Neil Young, Warren Zevon and Eric Clapton. Clapton called Johnson "the most important blues musician who ever lived."

Here's one of my favorite "descendents" of Robert Johnson.

Jack White - Ball and a Biscuit

Huh?

The guy invented Rock 'N Roll...period.

That's all you needed to say CK.

I'm not a big guitar solo kinda guy though you can't beat Pearl Jam's Yellow Ledbetter.

Immortality will do too Steve.

Nirvana...best here would be In Bloom if I had to pick. It's super short (like 4 seconds) but you have to have a bridge somewhere in songs if they are to ever gain minimal recognition.

Man, that's one damn fine f'in tune.

It's a bit tough to say he invented Rock 'n' Roll. Rock 'n' Roll was born out of many forms of music, one of which was Blues. So RJ definately influenced a lot of rock musicians, maybe more than anyone else, but he is not the only pioneer.

As for Pearl Jam, they may be one of the most under-rated band out there. Nirvana is good as well, but Cobain's death gave them "legendary" status and I don't think they are better than bands like Pearl Jam, or Sound Garden.

That song by Guns N Roses. Darn I can't think of the name of the song right now. Is it something with the name Destruction in it?

The Album is called Appetite for Destruction Bama...

Most notables off that album were:
Welcome to the Jungle
Sweet Child of Mine
Paradise City

There are bunch of other greats but those were the top hits...
