Default WTF...drafting based on "points?"

Sweet Martha Christ....if I see another person talk about drafting somebody based off this ****ing "point system" bull****, my head will explode. Why not just put on Madden 2005 and draft that way. Let your PS2 draft for you.

Either the kid can play football, or he can't. You can watch him play on tape, or live and in person, or break out your algebra book and try and formulate an opinion with numbers and points.

First, computers pick a college football national champion, now people evaulate a draft based on some point system. WTF is the football world coming to?

OMG!

I just got Professor Fink from The Simpsons and Bill Nye The Science Guy together, and Matt Leinhart actually has so many points, that you can pick a few up this year, and apply them to any player you draft this year, thus making his draft value increase, thereby justifying drafting him where you do, or even, increasing his trade value!

Glayvin!!

What has this point system ever won Mr. Beane? NOTHING. Put down the calculus book and open your eyes and watch somebody play the damn game.

What "point system" are we referring to here? The only one I'm familiar with is the one that assigns points to each pick, round by round, with the first overall pick counting the most points, the second pick less, and so on. It is used (by many teams) to determine whether a team should trade, say, their second-round pick in return for moving up in the first round. It's not a method of evaluating the actual player who gets drafted in any specific spot - it merely assigns a point value to each pick based on what position in what round the selection is located.
