Agreed... its a shame that men and women are still being killed in Iraq (which the US media fails to report..... an insult to servicemen and women) for what? Oil?

Astute observation 'ee, but history goes against it.
The Vietnam era draft -- even though it was a loophole-ridden one -- was the first step toward general opposition to the war. A lot of people who now support the war in Iraq would probably change their minds if they or their kids had to be uprooted from their comfortable civilian lives to go face insurgents wielding RPGs and IEDs (but, notably, not WMDs) in the desert.
That's why neither Bush nor Kerry are suggesting it, at least not until after the election.

The media fails to report on the deaths of servicemen in Iraq??? Are you joking?

There will not be a draft, and the only people that want one are the people that think African-Americans and the poor bear too much of the burden in our VOLUNTARY MILITARY. Well at least now the people that go and fight have made a choice. All you do with a draft is force people that don't want to go into going. The rich and powerful will always have exemptions. Wake up.

And I'm not going to get into another argument on these boards about Iraq because we've had too many already.

Are YOU joking? It's the libruls who want a DRAFT?

I don't know what crackpot thinks that, but the only people *I* know who want a draft are those conservatives who think these slackers playin' the gee-tar and smokin' cigarettes don't appreciate the freedom they're given by heroes like George W Bush and His will carried out by the soldier.

Well, historically speaking in this country it is typically liberals who are anti-war and conservatives who are looking to see exactly how much money they can squeeze out of the budget to ramp up the military.

I took the draft message seriously and actually gave a printout to my 10 year-old daughter.

It seemeth rather trivial to debate if this becomes law ... war seems inevitable.

Being anti-war does not necessarily mean that you are anti-draft. And as a conservative, I'm not so much interested in how much money I can squeze out of the budget as I am in seeing how much puss I could squeze out of your head.

What an imflammatory response to very non-inflammatory remarks by Doublee.

What's that Marc is always saying about thread running it's course and insults?
