I think Omar Jacobs will be the darkhorse to make it to the Finals in NYC just like Alex Smith did last year.

USC at Oregon and than at Arizona State will be tough. Arizona State also has that excellent tight end also right? can't think of his name.

Calvin Johnson is an incredible playmaker but for him to perform to the best of his abilities, Reggie Ball will have to get it together. Which I think he will and Georgia Tech will be a dangerous team.

reggie bush got consideration last year, he was one of the finalist for the heisman. he is my pick this year to win the heisman. why do you think they call him "the most electrifying man is college football." he will have a tremendous year. he put on 5-8 pounds of pure muscle, so in addition to his speed he will be alot stronger this year as well.

Yeah, but there are a lot of players out there w/a ton of talent, they just don't have the brains to use it. Ball is a gifted athlete, and w/the WRs he has, he should do well this year. I just don't think it will be enough to go to NY.

Reggie Ball? Is he even considered to be the best college QB in the state of Georgia? My guess is we probably have a better chance of seeing D. J. Shockley as a Heisman Finalist before Reggie Ball.

I think Shockley is in the same boat as Ball. He is so gifted physically, but he has got to show he knows how to use his abilities. However, i think if D.J. does get it going, the Bulldogs will be in serious contention for the SEC.

Agreed, but Shockley definitely has the better pedigree of sorts whereas Ball was a relative unknown until winning the starting job at Tech. If I had to bet on who would have the better year I think I would take Shockley.

Yeah, I agree with you there. UGA has a few good QB recruits behind him, including Joe Cox, who will be playing WR this year. The 2 back set may be really fun to watch if they can run the option effectively.

Alex Smith shouldn't have been there. He was and is overated. He just rode the success Utah had by playing nobodys after the first week. He's proving that now by being a second-stringer for of all teams, San Francisco.

Shockley hasn't had significant playing time having been behind David Greene for the past three seasons and hasn't had a chance to prove himself. Reggie Ball has been starting for two years now and didn't impress anyone. He seems to be in the same boat as Penn State QB Michael Robinson. They are both terrific athletes with a lot of talent but haven't been able to pull it together and become solid QB's. Here's to hoping both come around in '05.

Yeah, because God knows that every top QB in the league started their first year in the league. It is very short-sighted to write off Alex Smith as overrated before his career has yet to get started.

I agree. Plus, if memeory serves correctly, Smith shredded a pretty good Pitt team last year.

Whoa Whoa Whoa. All I said was that is if Reggie Ball did well Georiga Tech could be a dangerous team. Someone brought up Dereck Hagan as a Heisman canidate and I added Calvin Johnson. Which brought up Georgia Tech. I said nothing about Reggie Ball ending up in New York. Maybe you guys should slow down and read what is being said.
