Default MLB - Though of the Day - August

Here we go boys and girls.... 2 months left of regular season. How do you see your team finishing?

I like the Redsox to win the East and hopefully the penant depending on whether or not they can stay healthy.... it was this time last year it all went downhil with injuries. Best of luck to your team!

The Yankees were surprisingly quiet at the trading deadline. I guess they weren't willing to part company with enough talent to acquire the bullpen help that they desperately need to stay in the race (just my opinion, mind you). In fact, they dealt one of their more reliable arms to the Dodgers for Betemit. Curious.

Well this happend on July 31st, but since u closed July I will post here. Amazing that the Yankees hit eight homeruns in last night's win and A-Rod didn't have one. The Yanks offense can be scary-it might carry them to the World Series if their pitching improves just a bit more.

Santana is unhappy with the Twins right now - can't really say that I blame him, but remember they lost Liriano this year. If he comes back and pitches the way he did last year before the injury they will have a nasty 1-2 punch again. Santana is a free agent after 2008.

"Why waste time when you're talking about something that's always going to be like that? It's never going to be beyond this point," Santana told the newspaper. "It doesn't make any sense for me to be here, you know?" --Santana

A-Rod goes 0-4 tonight and has not gotten a base hit since he hit number 499.

It is beyond me how LaRussa thought he was going to repeat this year with freakin' Kip Wells and Braden Looper in the rotation.

As a Twins's fan, I will say that I agree with Santana, but am willing to see what the combo of Punto and Casilla can do at 2B for the rest of the season. As to acquiring a big bat, the Twins will get one back when Cuddyer returns to the lineup. Where he plays is anyone's guess, as Tyner is hitting the ball well in the lead-off spot, having raised his BA from the .260's to around .290 lately. If he continues to hit, he'll have a place in the lineup.
I would like to see the Twins resign Torii Hunter to a long-term contract, with salary about $15M/year for 5 years or so. He likes playing in Minnesota and it would be nice to keep him. If he resigns, so does Santana. If not, who knows?

The Brewers are 8-11 since Ben Sheets' last start....

Yankees are 4-7 in Clemens' starts....

I guess King George is happy with his investment this season, isn't he?

Boy Mark Teixiera has started off with a bang in Atlanta. Two homeruns in two games.

If Tex can continue hitting like this, Andruw Jones will have a lot of pressure taken off him, allowing him to relax a bit at the plate. He should come around.

How about this one. Since June 9, when Clemens joined the Yankees the team is 29-19 (.604) and 25-12 (.676) in games that Clemens has not pitched in.

Mark Teixiera does it again in a losing cause hitting his third homerun as an Atlanta Braves in three games.
