Default Pete Rose admits to gambling on baseball?

I'm watching NFL Live when I see the ESPN2 Bottomline state that Rose allegedly admits in his new book "My Prison Without Bars" that he bet on baseball. Rose is also the subject of a primetime interview I believe on Thursday night.

Pete deserves to be enshrined in Baseball's Hall of Fame. With this admission, he will remove his only obstacle. Now the writers won't have any excuse to not vote for him. Eventually, he will be in the Hall. I hope he lives to see it.

I have believed all along that Rose deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. Maybe this will help him along. Not to say that the guy is the most respectable guy in the world, but I just don't think what he did deserved the "omission" from Hall of Fame voting.

So, my question is: Who is going to buy the book?

I also believe that Rose deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. The HOF is what you accomplished as a player/manager/coach/etc. It's not about what you did off of it even if it has to do with gambling on the sport you're associated with. If Rose doesn't get in because of this than there is something wrong. There are plenty or drunks and womanizers in the hall already so why can't there be a gambler?

Because gambling affects the integrity of the game. Sleeping around and getting drunk doesn't.

Would you like to put a small, insubstantial wager on this, Edgar?

I see where you are coming from, but if we kicked out every drunk and womenizer out of baseball, we would be left in a league with Cal Ripken having to pitch and play catcher. When you gamble on a game you are participating in, you are breaking the holy rule in sports.

He gambled as a manager, not a player. He's baseball's all-time hits leader and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. I hope now that he has admitted that he did gamble he gets his due and gets a plaque in the HOF as he rightfully deserves.

He still messed with the integrity of the game. That is something you don't do manager, or player.

Put him in the hall of fame, but never let him back in a dugout imo.

Alex, a manager betting on a game is actually WORSE that a player doing it, because a manager pulls all of the strings.

The question is now, even though he fessed up, should he be let into the HOF?
