Default The Bengals are KEEPING MARV LEWIS?

In what might just be the most bogus move of the entire year. The Bengals have agreed to a Contract EXTENSION with the underachieving Marv Lewis.

Bungles are Keeping Lewis

Thoughts?

This absolutely disgusts me. How in the hell does he deserve a job? Team has been terrible, underachieving year after year. Part of me wonders if the impending lockout has to do with it: $$$ and the Bengals' ownership is notoriously cheap.

Tom Cable being fired after going 8-8 and 6-0 in his division is a travesty, too. The horrible management of the Raiders (Al Davis) and Bengals is to blame. I feel sorry for those fans.

Why is Marvin Lewis any worse than any of the other coaches the Bengals have ever had, besides Forrest Gregg or Sam Wyche? And even neither of them ever led the Bengals to back-to-back non-strike winning seasons!

All right, maybe I am a bit surprised that Lewis didn't get fired - but I'm ten times more shocked that Gary Kubiak didn't; and so what if Bum Phillips is right about Kubiak's ability to get the Texans to play hard? What Kubiak has failed to do, and abjectly so, is get the Texans to play smart - and the latter is far more important than the former, which can reasonably be expected of any coach.

As for Cable, he may have attracted a "blue-collar" following of sorts - but he is not now, nor will he ever be, an elite head coach in this league.

I think that Marv Lewis will be BOOED every single game this year in less the Bengals start winning.

But with that huge drop in strength of schedule, the Bengals will start winning again next year.

You can pencil them in for 8-8 at least - or 9-9 if they can get the 18-game schedule up and running in time for next year.
